Counter-Strike Source Gameplay Revamp

Heartless Gamer writes "According to bit-tech.com, we'll soon be releasing the first in a series of updates to Counter-Strike: Source which will be focused on moving the core Counter-Strike gameplay forward. The first update will include an updated version of the map Train, which will feature an HDR lighting pass, some minor layout changes, and a number of small bugfixes. The second facet of this release will be a completely reworked radar system. There will be a significant change to the aesthetics of the radar, but there are also some fairly significant gameplay ramifications to the new system."

T's should be allowed to carry suicide bomb packs like they promised over 5 years ago...

How about re-doing the AI of the bots? Currently they play like 5 year olds with AimBot. The same bot that can headshot me as it falls from a building at 400 meters with a Glock 9mm somehow can't throw a 'nade in a window from 10 feet away. Nor can it understand that if a team mate is in front of you don't throw the grenade in the first place.

And how about more weapon options? Very few of the weapons have secondary attacks when IRL these same weapons have tons of features that I'm sure would enhance gameplay. How about semi-auto on the AK? How about burst or semi on the MP5?

And why is it that when a HE lands in some campers crotch it doesn't kill him? I know the old stories of guys living through close grenade attacks but the reason these stories float around is because it's an extraordinary circumstance. Most of the time if you're close enough to reach out and touch a HE when it goes off you're going to die. I can count the number of grenade kills I have on one hand from an enemy with full HP. I've even tried to have people stand still and drop the 'nade at their feet with pretty pathetic results.

And before anyone replies with the "it isn't a simulator" jazz... I know this, I'm not asking for all types of new implantations, just tweaking of current ones that are "broke" enough to make them annoying. I think the game would be better off polishing up what we have today instead of adding to the current content.

I like a slower pace, personally... I like the suspense that real life would give you. Ten guys running at the other team yelling "GO! GO! GO!" is hardly realistic.

CT's should be allowed to do both. If the bomb's out in the middle of an open area, they should be able to pick it up and defuse it while hiding behind a box, or after calling some teammates for cover.

T's should be allowed to move hostages.

It's funny to see the back and forth arguments between some people. Some people hate a new feature that others say was implemented to make the game more realistic, almost everyone agrees they want realism. Then they complain about camping. Well, in Real Life(tm), there'd be a lot more camping. Real terrorists camp hostages. Real life counter terrorism units would camp a suspected target.

Only whiners complain about camping, and no, I don't camp because I know other people don't like it, but I'll never complain about it and I usually defend people when others are complaining. Some reasonable servers even say "campers welcome".

Personally I prefer the stealth and suspense of a round where not everybody just goes beserk when the clock starts.
