IBM to Buy ISS for $1.3 Billion
gerald626 writes "IBM announced today that they have formed an agreement to purchase ISS for 1.3 billion dollars." From the article: " The all-cash transaction of about $28 per share is meant to bolster IBM's ability to deliver security services to corporations, the company said. ISS builds network protection products and services, including intrusion detection and monitoring tools. IBM said it intends to use ISS's expertise and software to provide more robust security-related services to its corporate customers."
IBM bought the International Space Station?!?!?
Doh! You so all beat me to it....
To Do: 1. Take over world 2. Pick up Milk and Bread on the way home
Shouldn't this be in the Slashdot "Science" section since that's where space articles show up.
yeah yeah, +5 troll, +5 redundant
Seriously, though, I've been sitting here hitting refresh until the "Nothing to see here" message went away so I could post some witty comment, but the first second or two that I can see the replies... about five people already have said "the Space Station?"
RTFA. 11 comments and none about Internet Security Systems
...For the beast had been reborn with its strength renewed, and the followers of Mammon cowered in horror.
There are going to be millions of mod point used on -1 Redundant.
The mods are going to have their work cut out for them today. 11 messages posts so far and every single one is along the lines of "IBM bought a space station?" To be fair even after reading all 11 posts my mind was _still_ going "huh?" So could someone who isn't at work and behind an overly restrictive web filter kindly let the rest of us know which ISS they're _actually_ talking about?
This Space Intentionally Left Blank
Can anyone honestly think of a better tax-haven than space? I mean really, what's the rate up there these days?
Let me be one of the first thousand to say, "Why would IBM buy the International Space Station?"
In Soviet Russia, Space Station buys you!
All your space station are belong to IBM!
(Whatever happened to Natalie Portman? I hardly ever see her around here any more.)
Are you...Are you some kind of genius?
No, ma'am, I'm just a regular Slashdot reader.
NO, because like most 'breaking news' on /. , I heard it someplace else first (on the radio) and it wasn't phrased as "ISS"
Informative? Try "Troll" or better yet "Lacking Sense of Humor"

Wicked wicked Zoot ... she is a bad person and she must pay the penalty. And here in Castle IBM, we have but one punishment... you must tie her down on a bed ... and spank her. Come!

In Soviet Russia, they said "That's no space station..."
Slashdot has fallen apart. Nothing more than a political bash session where 14 year olds poke fun at everything that isn't OSS/MS wars because they know nothing aside from bashing others without any real substance.
Wait, how was I insightful?
can I get a -1 Confused now?
someone mod me down
Aye dares ye!
