Army Opens New Office of Videogames

An anonymous reader writes "For the first time, the Army has set up a project office, just for building videogames. The military has been training troops with games for decades, of course. But this is the first wing of the armed forces dedicated exclusively for gaming. One of the first projects: a tool kit that would let soldiers "build and customize their own training scenarios — just like the Marines' did, adapting Armed Assault for military purposes."

That was a perfectly legitimate comment... especially given the tendency of governments worldwide to legislate the competition out of business, or confiscate or hijack a beneficial process through legislation or taxation.

Personally I think that fellow should be marked +5 Insightful... but who are we kidding. The only people still using mod points to slam down insightful remarks are usually collectivist shills.

Presumably it got marked troll because the government already had a heavy hand in development of a game (America's Army), and no such thing happened. Thus, the GP is crying wolf. At least, that's why I would have marked it that way if I had mod points (although more likely, I'd have left it alone, but meh).

I always moderate posts I disagree with as flamebait or to at least troll, perhaps I would mod something as overrated if I don't think it deserves +5 insightful for advocating opera. And no, I won't stop it, enjoy.
