Metal Gear Solid 4 Not the End
1up gaming is reporting that while Metal Gear Solid 4 may be the end of the road for Solid Snake, the series will live on. "The Metal Gear series is one of the most successful (and profitable) in modern gaming. Would it surprise you, then, to learn that Metal Gear Solid 4 might not be the end of the franchise after all, despite recent comments from series creator Hideo Kojima that led some to speculate MGS4 would be the series' last? Speaking to MTV Multiplayer, MGS4 producer Ryan Peyton confirmed that the series will live on after Guns of the Patriots. But while we may see more games with 'Metal Gear' in the title, we may not see 'Solid' in there as well."
MGS 2 was the "last Metal Gear Solid." MGS 3 was the "last Metal Gear Solid." Kojima is the Barbra Streisand of video games.
But even Hideo Kojima said this was HIS last one. Would the future one live up to our expectations without Kojima?
The greatest revenge in life is massive success.
From a nation that's produced 20+ games called "Final Fantasy?"
If you haven't made a developer cry, you've wasted a day.
Of course The End isn't in Metal Gear Solid 4. He died in 3, and that was a massive prequel. (Plus, he was already pretty ancient by then.)

What about MGS3?

But I wouldn't mind if #5 is a full blown Metal Gear Raiden.
For all the hate about Raiden, I thought that it was only due to the shock of the size of his role, and hate about his appearance. His character wasn't fully fleshed out, so I don't know if I hate him for his youthfully naive attitude to the missions. I found the playability and greater athleticism made him a good character to play, compared to the slow as molasses Snake. It was annoying to fight Liquid as he jumps all over the room, while Snake barely trots along.
Snake's greatest attribute is his gruff character, and bewildered comments ("..."). If the same level of character development was spent on Raiden, maybe he wouldn't be such a universally hated character in the Metal Gear world.
Uh, Snake (as much as I love the guy) himself is pretty formulaic, I'm afraid.
Colonel: SNAKE! You must destroy Metal Gear!
Snake: Metal Gear?
Colonel: Sigh... We've been through this. Metal Gear is a mobile device capable of launching nuclear missles from anywhere!
Snake: Nuclear Missles?
Colonel: Goddamnit, Snake. Didn't you learn anything in the debriefing?
Snake: Debriefing?
