I'd venture that Nintendo just doesn't want others to try and do things first. I mean a lot of his previous hobbies and the way they translate into games aren't completely non-obvious; granted Miyamoto has great talent in that translation and what is really "fun" about them in a game, but if you follow that trend, someone's going to say "hey, how DO you make this into a game" and go from there. It's more of trying to prevent others from even getting the idea of "hey this _would_ make a cool game, wouldn't it."

Roman Catholics believe God is responsible for everything. Including random chance ( which everyone knows is seldom all the random.) I am a Roman Catholic and that's not true. There's no doctrine stating that God controls every single thing in the universe and there never will be. While you can safely say that God is the ultimate cause of all creation, there's nothing that theologically indicates that God actively controls everything. That's not to say that He couldn't influence anything, but He's certainly not guiding every single atom at every time. He created perfectly good laws of nature to do that for Him.

I was at a Catholic wedding once, and the priest made a special point to un-invite all us pagans (you know Methodists, Presbyterians, Lutherans, etc.) not to come up for their little ritual. Under my breath, I said "We're not worthy", to myself. Except I guess it wasn't just under my breath and to myself alone, because several people approached me at the reception to say: "We're not worthy, either." The reason that happens is 1) Receiving the Eucharist during Communion is a sign of unity. If you're not Catholic, it'd be contradictory to that unative message to recieve it and 2)a Biblically-based belief that people who receive Jesus's Body and Blood (which is what Catholics hold that it really and truly is) unworthily, that is, either in a state of disbelief or in a state of great sin, basically bring a bunch of bad things down on themselves. So it's a theologically protective measure, and it applies to Catholics as well.

If a person said to a priest, in the confessional, "I am going to kill you when you leave your house tomorrow" and the priest acts on that information, he will be subject to the most serious penalties the Vatican can throw at him if he survives. It's one of the most egregious violations a priest can commit under Canon Law, no excuses ever.
