Fun Dance Dance Revolution Mod Hits the Pavement

It seems that the Newport Aquarium in Northern Kentucky has a cool custom mod for their Dance Dance Revolution game. Frogger. Yes, you too can hop your way to 8-bit excitement with this cool mod. The game was unveiled as a part of "The Frog Bog" exhibit, which is a celebration of all things froggy. It's always fun to see neat little mod projects like this.

Well, they *are* in a swamp, after all.

Really, though, that looks like the most awesome set of pads ever. I don't need the darned things to blink, I just want them to register when I step on them -- and to keep registering on a "hold".

But what do I know... I can only do 6-7 footers. Not bad for a 40-year-old, though.

I've posted the topic at the DDRFreak forum. It'll be interesting to see what they have to say. Sadly, there doesn't seem to be a FroggerFreak forum.

If you don't mind dropping $350 on your hobby, I highly recommend a Mymybox Blueshark. I've owned one for a couple of years now and it's still going strong, and I play 10s and above (the ones rated higher than a 10 being on a similar dancing game called In the Groove) so it's definitely taken quite a beating.

It's not a drastic leap. Granted, it's cool (custom code for the game?), but the mat was already just a mapping of the inputs.....it would work with any simple enough game (uses D-pad and not the analog sticks).

Frankly, they need to do something to draw people back to the levee. The Parking is pricier than I'd like and the shops are closing down, but, I will agree the Aquarium is nice to visit and there are 2 DDR machines in Gameworks... At least, last time I went

Konami introduced a few kids games for the PS2 played using a control mat on the floor, to get the mat you had to buy the frogger game which has quite a few fun mini games for 2-5 year olds.

THere are some other 'edutainment' titles which are supposed to help with letters, numbers, shapes and colours, but I've only got the frogger game for my kids.

My 3 year old is pretty good at most the games but has lost interest since I got Rock Band. Turns out she's doing a pretty good job as a vocalist.
