Guitar Hero: Metallica Setlist Released

An anonymous reader writes "Metallica has announced the setlist for their upcoming Guitar Hero game. They have a wide variety of songs from their different albums. There are 28 Metallica songs and 21 from other artists. They have also confirmed the release date of March 29th. The list includes Enter Sandman, The Unforgiven, One, and For Whom the Bell Tolls. Fans who pre-order the game will have an opportunity to get an extra bass drum pedal to keep up with Lars Ulrich's beats."

Why couldn't they make a guitar hero with a decent band, like Queen or The Who or The Rolling Stones?

Rock Band is working on a Beatles game for Christmas, and rumors has it that part of Pearl Jam's huge marketing blitz launching in March will include the re-released Ten as a full album download for Rock Band.

Personally, I would kill for a full Rock Band/Guitar Hero centered on grunge rock from the 90's with Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots, Temple of the Dog, Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana, leading into more modern bands like Foo Fighters, Audioslave, etc.

    I actually like Metallica's music.

Of course the band is full of douches, so my Metallica mp3's are all pirated.

pirated mp3? That's so last decade...

By now you should have all concerts and mtv videos in 1080p, ready to be remotely played on your 50" tv and at the same time, seeded by torrent.

Then someone would nuke your release because one of the videos isn't really in 4.1 and on the propper, he'd include the cracked guitar hero game and 50 ebooks of pretty little poems about Ulrich; 49 of which would be haiku.

I'm curious if the sound is not compressed to absolute buggery on Guitar Hero.

Metallica's last CD album "Death Magnetic" sounded absolutely crap.

That was the fault of the engineer on the album. I don't know why Rubin keeps going to him, but he keeps compressing the shit out of everything when they mix the albums. The mastering engineer publicly called them out on it after the album had been released. Quote from wikipedia: " MusicRadar and Rolling Stone attribute a quote to the album's mastering engineer Ted Jensen in which he claims that "mixes were already brick-walled before they arrived" for mastering[70][71] and cite a petition from fans to remix or remaster the album." Oftentimes today "mastering" today is simply over-compressing the hell out of the mix, but apparently, that was done ahead of time on this one.

Ironically, the Death Magnetic song pack had higher quality sound then the CD, it was alot less compressed. It was posted on here a few months back.

but instead, a bunch of shitty songs from St. Anger and Death Magnetic.

As for the second pedal, I liked Ars' take on this: "[...] and you'll be able to hook up a second pedal to your drums in order to barely keep up with the rest of the band. Just like Lars!"

I listed the albums (from memory) that each of these songs comes from. I wasn't sure on the Load vs. Reload songs, as they are both the same album to me really.

But to make my point, there are more songs from And Justice for All then on St. Anger and Death Magnetic combined.

Which brings me to the next point. No matter what Metallica does, they will be a target. Some of it justified, but most of it will be misguided and ill informed.

      Track Listing with original Album:

All Nightmare Long - Death Magnetic
      Battery - Master of Puppets
Creeping Death - Ride the Lightning

For Whom The Bell Tolls - Ride the Lightning
      Frantic - St. Anger
      Fuel - Reload
Hit The Lights - Kill em All
      King Nothing Load
Master of Puppets - Master of Puppets
Mercyful Fate (Medley) - Garage Inc.
      No Leaf Clover - S&M
      Nothing Else Matters - Metallica
One - And Justice for All
      Orion - Master of Puppets
      Sad But True - Metallica

You know it's true. You must be one of the chumps who decided Metallica was cool after you saw St. Anger on MTV. GTFO sissyboy - the real men are deconstructing Metallica and shitting on their pieces. Go back to your room and resume your masturbation to your Evanescence poster.

But they are greedy litigious assholes considering all the crap they have pulled in recent years that basically shows they don't get it when it comes to modern music distribution. Alienate your fans, way to go!

Yeah, because those fans sure are acting like they've been alienated, what with the latest album debuting at #1 and apparently going platinum in the first day of sales.

Now if you had said "alienating the fans who don't buy their albums", that would probably be more accurate. But when you're running a business, what do you lose by doing that?

I play GH even though I also play guitar. It's a great game, you should give it a go when you find the time.

Ever played Speedball even though you can don a 10-kg armor and throw a red hot iron ball around? Ever played Counterstrike even though you have a gun? Ever played Starcraft even though you own a bicyc... I mean Science Vessel?

I was at a Dream Theater show last summer, and I wore my Justice shirt. I overheard a couple of guys behind me talking about it, even though they tried not to let me hear:

Guy 1: Aww, Metallica? They suck!
Guy 2: No dude, that's Justice, they were good back then!
    Guy 1: Really?
Guy 2: Yeah, they made albums before St. Anger, you know...

That said, I still like the newer albums. Not as much as the older ones, but new Metallica is still far superior to all the other crap being made nowadays. I just bought Death Magnetic a few weeks ago, and it's the only album made in the past 5 years that I own that's not made by Dream Theater.

As for the lawsuits, that was almost entirely Lars, and I won't begrudge the entire band for it. The rest of them basically didn't care one way or the other.

Besides, the band's always advocated for free distribution of bootlegs; it's just studio material that they went after. For the last several years you've been able to download recordings of their live shows for free from their site.
