Guitar Hero: Metallica Setlist Released

An anonymous reader writes "Metallica has announced the setlist for their upcoming Guitar Hero game. They have a wide variety of songs from their different albums. There are 28 Metallica songs and 21 from other artists. They have also confirmed the release date of March 29th. The list includes Enter Sandman, The Unforgiven, One, and For Whom the Bell Tolls. Fans who pre-order the game will have an opportunity to get an extra bass drum pedal to keep up with Lars Ulrich's beats."

While I happen to agree with your musical tastes (and GH Aerosmith isn't that bad) the real problem is that 90% of their pre-packaged content is going to be crap, but it's a _different_ 90% for each customer! It should be ALL downloaded content. Unfortunately, as a Wii owner, I'm stuck with paying $45 for a Guitar Hero or Rock Band disc with only 2 decent songs on it. I own both Guitar Hero and Rock Band for Wii, but if I had it to do over again, I would have bought an Xbox 360 just for these games so I wouldn't have to play the brain-dead versions of those games they ported to the Wii. There are a lot of games that are good on the Wii, but Rock Band and Guitar Hero are much, much better on the Xbox (and probably on the PS3 as well). Lack of downloadable content on the Wii is stupid and pointless since there are 2 USB ports one could plug a flash memory extension into, as well as an SD memory slot.

The $5 is purely to pay for licensing fees, presumably because at the time RB1 was made Harmonix wasn't thinking ahead far enough to include such export rights into the original contract.

When Rock Band: AC/DC came out, the game included a code in the box which would be used to download all of the songs from the AC/DC game for use in RB2 (I'm not sure if they will also work in RB1, but I think so).

Presumably, by the time they licensed songs for RB2, they also secured export rights to all of those songs, so hopefully everything will work in RB3. Mmm... Dethklok is good.

Dethklok? Bah, they've got nothing on Detroit Metal City! Krauser-san is the demon-lord of metal, summoned forth from the fiery pits of hell by his many followers so he can spread his message of rape and slaughter.

    Bow-ties are cool.

Isn't this the one where Microsoft's revolutionary Songsmith technology was used for the backing tracks?

    Here's a sample: enjoy!

speaking of HD concerts - I've got one of Metallica's shows from Seoul, 2006 in 1080i. James has the biggest nose goblin showing for 1/2 of the show. There's no way I would have been able to see it with shitty old Standard def.

  26. Rise Against? by bluefoxlucid · · Score: 1

Metallica is one of the few bands worthy of a solo title, says Luke Plunkett of game news site Kotaku.com, "because they're one of the few popular enough â" and with a large enough back catalog â" to make it a worthwhile endeavor. A lot of their biggest songs are built on fast drums, fast guitars and epic solos, which should make them more enjoyable to play."

Sounds like Rise Against would be better. Pick up The Sufferer and the Witness; and for a little lighter work, Appeal to Reason (Entertainment and The Dirt Whispered are both easier than Injection and Survive!). Bet we don't see it!
