Brave New World of Open-Source Game Design

Greg Chudecke writes "The New York Times recently ran an article on game companies that get design input from gamers. The article is branded as 'The Brave New World of Open-source Game Design.' The title may be a little misleading as it isn't exactly like the game design is open source for editing, however it is interesting that gamers are getting an opportunity to shape the games they play."

Heh, yeah right. The first thing that that open-source OS' can do (I'm looking at you Linux and BSD) is ditch their cutesy, infantile mascots...as if open source OS users are bed-wetting Sesame-street watchers. I remember the astounding disappointment of seeing that programmable Tux robot which had a voice like big-bird's.

Granted, not much can be done for the Linux penguin. But BSD's mascot is a demon and this pathetic sissy just won't do. How about this or this?
