Unreal Tournament 3 "Titan Pack" Expansion Coming In March
An anonymous reader writes with news that Unreal Tournament 3 will be getting a free expansion called Titan Pack on March 5th. It will contain a variety of new maps, and two new game modes: Greed and Betrayal. There will also be new weapons, deployables, and achievements. IGN's preview of the expansion mentions a few more improvements, such as an improved voting system and client-side demo recording for the PC version. Quoting: "... the most obvious addition to the series is the new Titan. As you play through the game, killing enemies, completing goals and generally avoiding damage, you'll build up your Titan meter. Once it fills up, you can instantly mutate into a 15' tall Titan. The Titan has massive health, a decent shield belt and can fire homing rockets. Oh, and he can also pound the ground to knock back any enemies that get too close. In short, the Titan is a real game changer."
Is everyone just in shock and awe of this announcement or is everyone snoozing on a Friday afternoon?

Now, if we could only get nubs not to vote for Downtown or Tank Crossing. ;)

I'll have to go buy the game now.
I'm a fruit pirate. I bought a watermelon once, and spat the seeds in the back yard. They grew into another watermelon,
Now when are we going to get the Linux install like the other Unreal Tournaments that we've been waiting for for so long?
"An anonymous reader writes..." yes that's very anonymous of you...CLIFFYB!
I'm still extremely disappointed about the lack of a Linux client, which was promised to be available on release day. Please please please, Linux client.

Isn't this the kind of thing that makes stronger players stronger, and weaker players weaker?
I always liked mods which made weaker players stronger. Like the 'fat head' mod, or whatever it was called, that would increase the size of your head the more kills that you got, making it easier for the weaker players to get headshots. Evened out the game when playing with people with mixed abilities.
You can get it from Stardock's Impulse service http://www.impulsedriven.com/. $30 on there and you can have it as soon as you can download it. Personally, I'm a big fan. An expansion will be great, but it is already worth getting. Basically if you enjoy unstructured shooters, either online or offline, it is a good game for you. There's no real single player game to speak of (there is technically but it is just various maps with cut scenes in between) so no mission/story if that's your thing. However, online or offline, you can get a game going of whatever kind you like.

The UT3 Linux Server still doesn't even have an official Version 1.3 patch update and now we're moving to a Titan Expansion? I really hope they bring out the pack for the Linux Server and do it soon.
Better yet, how about releasing the UT3 client for Linux on Steam. Didn't they promise a fully supported Linux system for this years ago? EPIC is really frustrating sometimes.
I have enjoyed running the UT3 client under Windows and playing online since it came out well over a year ago and very much look forward to this Titan Pack, but they really need to step up supporting the Linux Server. I'm tired of Server resets everyday due to another Windows failure.
I bought UT3 and was disappointed with the changes they made it. The new onslaught replacement is rather confusing, and allows one good person to totally unbalance the teams with the stupid ball thing to take over a node on Warpath.
They dropped assault mode which is what I played exclusively with UT2k4. It was supposed to be possible with Warpath mode, but I've not seen any assault style maps yet--although I've yet to play in awhile. Or much at all really.
And they remove m-m-m-m-monster kill. That's an unreal staple man. They also removed the cussing, presumably to make it xboxable.
While they might not emerge from Chap 11, they didn't declare Chap 7 (liquidation) so they see hope for a continuation of the company post-debt restructure.
You better watch out, there may be dogs about . .
Anyone else think they were talking about a titan missile?
for me. It's the game that made me decide that Epic no longer made good games and had all but abandoned the PC.
I loved UT, 03 and 04. But UT3 was really bad.

the best thing of this is that will come to the PS3 for free :D
Epic, I've bought all the previous Unreal games, and run them on both Windows and Linux - Unreal Tournament 3 is the last game I'll be buying.
-16 months after launch, and we STILL do not have our promised "launch timeframe" Linux client.
-You built in a kill-switch into Gears of War (Nasty nasty DRM, I avoid like the plague)
Don't worry, I won't pirate it either. If it's not worth my money, it's not worth my time.
Huh, that's pretty interesting, the next question is why do gamespy hate linux? I did a little googling and found this: http://www.prounreal.com/?t=73341&f=180 but it's mostly about server issues, however the fact that icculus has never hinted at any other issues than the initial legal problems does point the dirty finger straight at gamespy. Well, lets just hope steam kills them eh?
