Guitar Hero 5 To Allow Duplicate Instruments, Easy Switching

Activision confirmed the existence of Guitar Hero 5 last week, and now they've released details about some of the game's new features. Quoting 1Up: "... the new Party Play mode allows players to swap instruments and difficulties on the fly — even in the middle of a performance. You'll also be able to play Guitar Hero 5 with any combination of instruments, be it four drum kits, two microphones and two guitars, or any other possible configuration of four players." They also listed a few of the songs, which include "All Along the Watchtower" by Bob Dylan and "Ring of Fire" by Johnny Cash. Meanwhile, their music-game rival Harmonix has revealed the full set list for Rock Band Unplugged, coming out early next month for the PSP.

Playing a real guitar requires years of hard work and dedication. That'll be a smash at parties.

Besides, one controller for RL Guitar costs more than all of Rockband.

Why not choose the one that's actually..y'know...profitable, portable, real, entertaining to those that are watching?

You have a really funny idea of the term "profitable". If you don't have a passion to play a real guitar, its worthwhileness as an investment is nil.

Take the amount of time it would take to make it job-worthy (e.g. capable of playing gigs either solo or in a band), take into account how much you'd reasonably expect to make (how common are people who play at bars vs. people with record contracts vs. people with record contracts that actually succeed?), and then compare that to training in any serious field (say, learning how to access a variety of database servers via Java, C++, ASP.net, PHP, VB, etc., or how to manage and administrate a server). Yes, music can make you millions, but so can selling a software company or film scripts.

And yet again, the number of people who can play well enough to be teachers is much smaller than the pool of total players. And it still takes a lot of dedication to be good enough to teach guitar. Further more, people who just randomly bring their guitars to parties are FUCKING ANNOYING. You know why? If they weren't ask to, there's been no accommodations made for them, and they expect everyone else to bend over for them. If there's music playing, that needs to be turned down/off. They need relative quiet for tuning, then they want space to play in, and if not everyone wants to listen, you're still considered a rude asshole by the player if you don't hush up. And in the end, you're still just playing for yourself since no one else can play, and what you play is ultimately up to you and what you know.

With Guitar Hero, you can have multiple people playing, you're limited by the play list, not any one person's knowledge, everyone else can still carry on with what they want to do, people can swap in and out. Overall, it's a much more involving and social experience, and this looks like it will take it even further. So don't be a fan of GH if you want, no skin off my nose, but take your bullshit "Learn a real guitar instead" drek elsewhere.
