WikiLeaks Under Denial of Service Attack

wiredmikey writes "WikiLeaks has reported that its Web site is currently under a mass distributed denial of service attack. The attack comes around the time of an expected release of classified State Department documents, which the Obama administration says will put 'countless' lives at risk, threaten global counterterrorism operations and jeopardize US relations with its allies."

They do. If you read any of them, you'd realize that they put out the names of civilians who act as informants. I'm sure that doesn't put anyone at risk, nope none at all.

If this guy had any morals he would have blanked out Names of the leaks to help protect the individuals. I was taught that in 8th grade. This guy is just making a point not for the fact of the point but just to put more attention to himself.

Two wrongs don't make a right.

President Bush was wrong to invade Iraq under such spurious claims/evidence. Wikileaks is wrong to expose state secrets which have precisely 0% probability of changing American policy but a 100% probability of endangering Americans, American allies, and damaging interests.

Playing the moral equivalence game with the policies of George W. Bush, a reckless, irresponsible President, is a poor starting point.

But they should not be able to communicate frankly when discussing Saudi Arabia's funding of terrorism, or China's deliberate sabotage, even as they work on a way to publicly discuss such things? Never mind, you're a blowhard, and can't imagine that a diplomat would ever be involved in anything that's not "filthy." Interesting choice of word, there, actually. You should get in a little supportive time with someone who will let you talk about your issues in private. Um, unless you think there should be no privacy between people as they discuss sensitive things ... which is apparently how you think.

No, my beef with "Anti American" is because it is implying that something is "wrong" simply because it is of an opposing view.
"Anti-American" holds no weight. It is an empty statement.
The mere act of criticism of American ideals, values and goals (if there are such things) is labeled "Anti-American". This goes against all logic that things this important _should_ be critically viewed and examined by the public to determine if our politicians actually are doing as good a job as they say they are.

Why are you and everyone else so mad about wikileaks here? Your anger is completely misdirected. Wikileaks didn't steal the information it got leaked.

When someone shoots your wife, and I tell you I know who it is, but I'm not telling you because I'm protecting my sources ... are you not going to get mad?

No, its not the same thing, but the point is.

Common sense tells us that it doesn't matter whether it's wikileaks

Apparently you don't have any common sense, it matters that its wikileaks because they are sharing it. It would matter if it was some other website as well, except we'd be shouting at them instead of Wikileaks. Its simple cause and effect. Its really not hard to understand. You get mad at the people doing things that make you mad. If they weren't doing it, no one would be upset at them.

We should really be asking ourselves WHY THE FUCK CAN'T THE GOVERNMENT KEEP THE NAMES OF CIVILIAN INFORMANTS CONFIDENTIAL?!

Because a traitor with access to the information leaked it ... Do you know what a leak is? Have you been actually following any of this? It happens, in the past it wasn't as big of a deal actually, he and everyone with the information would have simply disappeared and no one would know. We stopped (openly) assassinating people however, which in my opinion was stupid.
