Trolling Al Qaeda... For Peace?

How well do I remember the blood on the walls from the constant fighting that went on at home. It was usually Dad’s blood. Mom had thrown an object and cut him with it. As children, we would scream and cry in terror. My parents drank almost every weekend and the latter parts of the day!
We had a large family, too large. My Dad’s paycheck barely made ends meet. Food was scarce, alcohol was abundant and fear was my constant companion. Finally, my Dad had a nervous breakdown and was institutionalized. He would escape on weekends and come home. Sometimes he would do strange things, like set the house on fire. Our mom spent a lot of time away from home trying to find herself at the bottom of a bottle. Since my parents were away, my older siblings and I learned how to take care of the smaller ones. I remember beatings I didn’t deserve and welts that went deep in my flesh.
On one occasion, I questioned my mother’s decision. She was so angry; she beat me with a wooden stick. When morning dawned and I got ready for school, I had black and blue marks all over my torso. I put on long sleeves to cover the bruises. “What are you doing,” Mom asked? “I am trying to conceal the bruises, “I confessed. “Don’t do that, I want people to see that I beat you!” So off to school I went covered in the marks from my beating. On other occasions, I was refused water because I was a bed wetter. Most of us kids were because of the traumatic life we lived. Even when I was sick, I was refused water. So I resorted to the commode for a cool drink, as a result I contracted Hepatitis A. For thirty days, I laid in a bed sick, weak and hungry, unable to eat.
Not long after I recovered from my bout with Hepatitis, a beating from my father almost killed me. Shortly after that I became pregnant. My mother sent me packing and told me not to come back. Nine months later I had a baby girl. She was lovely with huge brown eyes and tiny little rosebud lips. In a few shorts months I was pregnant again, which led to an illegal abortion that was not only barbaric but also, very dangerous. I barely made it through.
Later, Marilynn, my little girl was taken away from me because of my drunkenness and drug use. I became pregnant again, this time I tried to terminate the pregnancy by throwing myself down thirty concrete steps in a warehouse where I worked. I was given a “therapeutic abortion” after seeing two physiatrists.
My life was a mess, I would do so many drugs that I would wake up in strange places, bruised, raped and at times left to die. Along with the drugs, I began to get deeper into witchcraft and meditate. I would invite strange spirits to come inside my body and empower me. I was possessed by more then ten demons.
I got married in an attempt to make some sense out of life. We were both lost and could not help each other. It was pitiful. When I told him I was carrying his child, he sent me for an abortion. I wanted the child and fought to save it. He won. I went and terminated the pregnancy. That sent me over the edge. Literally, I became hopelessly addicted to cocaine. I was becoming increasingly suicidal. I was living with the memories of sexual abuse, memories that I could not shake. I was sure my inability to say, “No” to sex was because I was forced to do it against my will as a young girl. With the memories from my childhood haunting me, and a lack of love from my parents, the abortions, the drugs and all that I had done, I was a “train wreck” waiting to happen.
Until, one day a woman named Linda Smith invited me to church. I was a drug addict who was dying of Hepatitis. I was loveless, lonely, hopelessly and my days were numbered. After refusing Linda’s invitations, I decided to take her up on her offer. That night, I sat in the church with demons in my head tormenting me and threatening me. I wanted to run but my legs were like jelly. I heard the preacher talk about a man named Jesus who loved the unlove
But this is the dumbest idea I ever heard. If anything, tweaking in this ineffectual manner would only steel their resolve.

While I'm all for trolling Muslims, they are not going to decide to ignore the teachings of their faith and be peaceful, respect equality, free speech just because of logic. They're incapable of basic decent humanity, let alone logic. Oh and to preempt those who say that pointing out the evils of Islam is "racist", white Muslims are Just as Capable and likely to be terrorists as brown ones, and there are plenty of brown victims, the peaceful Coptic Christians for example.

State-sponsored trolling is never a good idea. The police should investigate crimes and with some measure also attempt to prevent them. The purpose of intelligence agencies is to gather intelligence. Neither of this involves trolling around on online forums.

How do we encourage enough trolling to make this effective? Sure, this is a hobby many giddy internet goblins love to participate in, but we need a little boost gain to jump this up to effective levels. Obviously, we must, as a society, LEGALLY justify CONFISCATING Bill Gates' uncountably vast WEALTH to fund this much needed public good. The fact that this man has been allowed to keep his BILLIONS when there is much needed trolling of islamists to be done is a SIN and we are ALL condemned to HELL for it!

and do the obvious thing: stop bombing random countries in the middle east every four to eight years. Anyone whos read Osama Bin Ladens demand list knows that most of his argument is structured around the fact that we bomb indiscriminately most of the middle east, topple their governments, kill their nationals and foreign nationals with drones, prop up malevolent dictators and generally leave the countries we've "touched" a complete wreck. trolling for peace will be nearly as effective as the like button was for Kony2012.
the state department understands quite well we need al quaeda in some form, hence a plan thats effectively designed to bolster recruitment. Without a boogeyman we have no pretext to assert regional dominance, and that would mean we would have to double down on our iran rhetoric and face whats largely believed to be a capable opponent in a war no one would support. Everything since the carter foreign policy doctrine has completely screwed this country into ensuring we pound the snot out of some unsuspecting foreign nation in the gulf once a presidency, its just that we're running out of little guys to fight that dont have big teeth, or allies that simply wont tolerate the action.

I think people reading too much into the description of the effort as "trolling".
Trolling on Usenet and sites like Slashdot is about provoking people who are otherwise engaged in reasoned, rational, discussions into flaming.
The Al Qaeda elements are presumably using weakly supported but not obviously wrong statements written to appeal to the emotions of would-be recruits and convince them that the irrational is reasonable. In other words, these elements are themselves trolling.
The counter would be to either reveal the trolls as nut jobs or provoke them to revealing that themselves. Posting fictitious but not obviously wrong arguments yourself is probably not the way to go about this.

Have you seen them chanting allu ackbar over, and over, and over, and over (and over!) again in videos where they are in a battle of some sort? Setting off a remote IED or launching mortars or some such. This is not the behaviour of remotely rational people.
Same thing when the extremists are cutting the heads off people they've kidnapped, allu ackbar chanting chanting chanting endlessly. These people aren't exactly playing with a full deck.
Controversial opinion but I think it best we simply leave them alone and stay away. Let them do whatever they like in their country, don't interfere but also don't start importing them en masse to Western countries either.

Review the case of the early, independent, Massachusetts Colony and the Quakers. In Puritan Britain, after Charles I was executed and Cromwell's Roundheads took over, the Quakers and the Catholics were the Al Queda and Mujahadeen. Both groups being religiously different, and irrationally hated for being. The Quakers were persecuted in Massachusetts for being anti-puritan authority "heretics", as savagely as Muslims are persecuted today by the intolerant and hysterically inclined. Until Charles II revoked Massachusetts' charter, after Massachusetts authorities hanged four, taking the lives of the King's subjects without asking his permission to. Quakers kept returning to Massachusetts during the years of the persecution laws, provoking the escalations of the laws.
But after the laws were annulled and repealed, the Quakers somehow lost interest in going to Massachusetts to preach. Peace reigned until the Quakers took a new stand against authorities, becoming abollitionists. From then to when the laws of the land ordered abolitionists to be tolerated violence escalated up to and including organized murder engaged in by armies. Again, when tolerance was restored, peace ensued.
Do you see the connection? Go on the attack, you instigate escalation of violence by both sides; pull back to a little bit tolerant and violence abates. Both sides find better things to do. So if you want to carry your bigoted warfare into cyberspace, troll away like the rabid idiots trolls always are, whatever their excuse to be savage. But if you want to work for peace, learn something about the other side, recognize their virtues and encourage them in those by being tolerant.
Just think what this means. There will be good paying government jobs for people with reliable trolling skills... Hmm.

These sites are monitored by many governments. If you start posting to one of them, you will go onto a watch list as a terrorist suspect. Then, when you fly to another country or back to the USA, you will be seriously questioned. "Because the government told me so." will not work. I would not do it. Never trust any government.
There is obviously other motives behind this. Obviously it is not going to HELP at all!!! Think of solely as geopolitical pwnage! It is a nosense-pissing contest that just provokes the opposite party
