Satoru Iwata, Head of Nintendo, Has Died At 55
An anonymous reader with the news, announced with a statement released by Nintendo on their homepage, that
Nintendo president and CEO Satoru Iwata
died of a bile duct growth on the 11th of July, 2015. The news is noted by Kotaku and by Engadget. Wikipedia notes that Iwata was the first of the company's presidents to be unrelated to the Yamauchi family through blood or marriage.
he/she died of:______ is usually left out.
If someone asked me to name a tech CEO that really new their business, Iwata would have been the first name on my tongue. He played games, he made games, and he knew what made games fun. This is a tragic loss for Nintendo and the gaming industry as a whole.
What? Where?
God job editors, don't try to fill in any useful information lest you set standards you can never again keep.
I know that the summary was three whole sentences, but you should really try reading it sometime. Or maybe even the headline. It helps having a rudimentary grasp of the English language. Summarizing the summary for you, Satoru Iwata (president of Nintendo (a Japanese company currently known for producing video games), died (ceased living) of bile duct (used to carry bile from the liver to the stomach to aid digestion) cancer (a disease characterized by abnormal cell growth).
Well that is a sad start to my day.
He was a great man. Responsible for Pokemon Gold/Silver, Kirby's Dream Land, Balloon Fight, Earthbound, Super Smash Bros., and was CEO starting in the GameCube generation until now.

Game Over!
Achille Talon
Hop!
He will be missed.
From us, dilektely to YOU! RIP. Iwata san, may you find happiness in the forest of Hyrule, forever the master of Baloon Fight.
What this world is coming to - is for you and me to decide.
I did a little research on this topic (ie. visited wikipedia and googled a bit).
It seems that the disease may be caused by parasites ingested when eating certain fish. There is currently no cure except surgery if you're lucky, and it's quickly fatal. One of the most important symptoms is jaundice. But already being yellow to start, it's even harder for asians to notice it early enough for surgery.
That sucks! Just the other day there was a news story saying that cancer is being put on notice with all the latest developments in (scientific) medicine.
Inside my head there is still just a confused monkey smashing cymbals together. Are you sure my 100ms attention span is up to this stuff in the first place?
You know who he is!
When you were in primary school, everyone had an uncle who worked for this man.
Always read at -1, don't let others decide what you should and should not read.
Where is the coin slot?
I'd like to insert some coins to avoid this "Game Over".

Damn, someone's drunker than I normally am.
Still waiting on Serviscope_minor to wake up to fucking reality and realize that Jessica Price isn't going to fuck him.
Gaming experienced the loss of a great example to follow in Iwata. Personally, I'd think Sakurai might be the other 'big boy' to be able to fulfill the position. However, I trust (however misinformed) that Nintendo as a company knows what it's about, I hope they won't fall to the same bullshit as Sony and Microsoft.
