Religious Hacker Defaces 111 Escort Sites (softpedia.com)

An anonymous reader shares this article from Softpedia: A religiously-motivated Moroccan hacker has defaced 111 different web sites promoting escort services since last summer as part of an ongoing protest against the industry. "In January, the hacker defaced 79 escort websites," writes Softpedia. "His actions didn't go unnoticed, and on some online forums where escorts and webmasters of these websites met, his name was brought up in discussions and used to drive each other in implementing better Web security. While some webmasters did their job, some didn't. During the past days, the hacker has been busy defacing a new set of escort websites... Most of these websites bare ElSurveillance's defacement message even today... Most of the websites are from the UK."
His newest round of attacks replace the sites with a pro-Palestine message and a quote from the quran, though in January Softpedia reported the attacker was also stealing data from some of the sites about their users' accounts.

I used to think a certain religion was pretty strict about sexual matters. Very serious about adultery and things like that. Then I discovered "mutah". This is a religiously sanctioned allowance for "temporary wives". Let's say you're on vacation... Sleeping with a prostitute, escort or some random woman would be wrong. However, if you get a temporary wife, complete with payment and contract... You can do all the usual stuff you do with your wife and it's all good!

There is however strict laws about the women involved in this... We must not consider them prostitutes, after all, Mohammed himself did this so it must be proper and holy. (This is why both sects accept the practice to this day) For example, they cannot have vaginal sex with 2 different men within a week of each other... After all, they must grieve one husband before the next. But....... There's a loophole there. Mutah who want to earn more $$ with more frequent husbands can limit her activities to non-vaginal activities and skip the waiting period.

So I used to think a certain religion was very pious about marital fidelity and prohibited promiscuity and prostitution among it's members, then I learned about mutah.

Why hasn't this man? Did he deface mutahmatch.com?

Mutah is prostitution. Mutah is adultery.
(Apologies to those who only use mutah to cook their dinners and iron their clothes)

Actually the mandatory intermediary period is usually more than 1 week (usually at least a month), and the reason is very pragmatic: if a child is born, it needs to be clear who is the father.

As you've already discovered, among various Islamic schools of theology there is vigorous disagreement about whether mut'ah is permitted or not. The most prominent distinction is that among Shiites it's mostly permitted and among Sunnis mostly forbidden, but there are Sunni communities there are some who practice mut'ah as well. Like with most details of Islamic law, people will have strong normative opinions. Instead of looking at the wide variety of things that Muslims are actually practicing in the world, they will claim that their opinion represents the whole of Islam and that everybody else is wrong. Since every side can draw on 1400 years' of theological debate to show that they are right and you aren't, and at the base of it there are texts that can be interpreted in different wys, but are considered sacred and must not be questioned, this kind of debate tends to degenerate very quickly.

Key words there are "was" and the fact that the purges were motivated by the belief--a positive claim--that all religion is a threat that must be stopped. One may note that this belief both informed and motivated the purges. Although it is commonly coincident with an atheistic position in modern times, do note that this is a positive claim susceptible to empirical inquiry. We merely have to look at the death tolls.

No, the purge was motivated by the unwillingness to share power. You see, until 1917 Russia has been an absolutist monarchy - the last one in Europe. In an absolutist monarchy the church plays a huge role - the monarch is appointed by the god after all. Russian orthodox church had money, land and a shitload of followers, hence it had to be, as they call it nowadays, "rightsized". Stalin wasn't a Russian, but a Georgian and he spared the churches and clergy in Georgia.

So, the notion that Stalin was an atheist is wrong, as is the notion that his purges of the Russian orthodox church was anything else but a power game.

Moreover, I find your construction rather odd, because if I'm not mistaken, it seems that you can't reasonably believe that atheists exist at all?

I have no idea whence you got that. I am an atheist myself, always have been.
