PayPal Payments and Notifications Are Coming To Facebook Messenger (venturebeat.com)

PayPal has announced that it's rolling out as an additional payment option within Facebook Messenger, which currently supports payments via debit cards. From a VentureBeat article: PayPal has been pushing to expand its reach into the consumer realm, having struck partnerships with MasterCard, Visa, Vodafone, and Alibaba, among other companies in the past few months alone. With Facebook Messenger on board, this opens PayPal up to a potential one billion users. Facebook first unveiled plans to expand Messenger beyond a messaging app and into a platform last year, letting retailers connect with customers on one of the world's most popular messaging services. Retailers including Everlane and Zulily were among the first partners announced, while big-name brands such as KLM have since signed up to embrace Messenger as a platform.

This is going to be big. People love to hand over their personal information to Facebook. They love to hand over their money (and banking rights) to PayPal. Put them both together, and now people can have ONE corporate master! It's a win-win for everybody!

      Amazing....

I guess I'm one of the last 3 people on earth that never have had a FB account and still find pleasure of using cash for most of their transactions...at least the ones in meatspace.

That being said, I do use an amazon store card (mostly) for amazon purchases that qualify for 6-24 mos interest free, or just pull cash out of my bank acct. which I did authorize them to do....

I'm not sure there are 3 people like that.

I for one welcome our personal information cataloging, you-are-the-product, electronic payment processing overlords. I'd like to remind them that as an unremarkable Slashdot poster, I could be helpful in astroturfing others into toiling in their transaction fee caves!

and with paypal behind it you KNOW it will be bad. Irecall a time i sold something that took 2 days longer than expected to get there so the customer complained and got their moneyback. 2 days later when it showed up fine no problem got the money back on my acct. well minus the 10 dollars in paypal fees that never should have been applied in the first place. they would hear none of it. Id have better luck working with big banks than paypal trying to get my money back
