Massive vacinations are prohibited by the EU, because the US and Japan won't buy meat that has been vacinated. There are discussions going on to do it anyway.
Intel said the device would open the door for the development of microprocessors containing more than 400 million transistors, running at 10GHz and operating at less than one volt.
Hmm, what do they mean.. Will the chip run at 10GHz, or will the 400 million transistors run at 10GHz??
Increase the timeout each time we retransmit. Note that
we do not increase the rtt estimate. rto is initialized
from rtt, but increases here. Jacobson (SIGCOMM 88) suggests
that doubling rto each time is the least we can get away with.
In KA9Q, Karn uses this for the first few times, and then
goes to quadratic. netBSD doubles, but only goes up to *64,
and clamps at 1 to 64 sec afterwards. Note that 120 sec is
defined in the protocol as the maximum possible RTT. I guess
we'll have to use something other than TCP to talk to the
University of Mars.
PAWS allows us longer timeouts and large windows, so once
implemented ftp to mars will work nicely. We will have to fix
the 120 second clamps though!
Haha, great!

I can't bring myself to agree with a lot of the posting here, the wringing of hands and concern that before we set up Pentiums and WANs we should feed Africa, work on infrastructure, stabilize political scenes, defeat AIDS, etc.
Actually, I think a good information infrastructure might be just what is needed to get Africa on the road to fight these problems themselves. Lots of problems can be solved if the people are given the right information. Look at all the myths about Aids in Africa. If the people understood the problem better, they might create their own social change. Same goes for food. In another country (forget which one) hundreds of lives of fisherman are saved each year, by looking at the weather-report on cnn.com. You can imgagine a similiar situation for farmers, who could save their crop intime.
People in africa are not dumb, they just have less information.
Then could you please tell us what kind of tv-card you have used.. I am alose planning a similar project, but I have not found a good tv card yet..
The same question was asked on kuro5hin, but you haven't answered that one yet.
First of all, why would any server store them.. They don't need them after they used to get your money. If you pay in a restaurant, do they also keep a copy of the number? (I never use a CC)..
Is it sane to put the complete number on the card.. In the Netherlands (and other countries in Europe) we have a different system, and have to remeber a pin code. The card is worthless without that pin.. I never really understood why they didn't do that with CC's..
I was talking to a friend of mine about this, and I didnt think it could be done..
I am not really into QM, but this was my argument: To simulate the entire universe on quantum level, you would need to simutate the state of every quark(?). To simulate a single quark, you would at least need one quark.. Thus to simulate to whole universe you would need at least every quark in the universe, and the universe would be its own simulation..
If this is bullshit, please let me know.. It sounds pretty solid to me (and my now convinced friend)..

No doubt!

8. Label signs band after all
9. Label gets the dope
Believe me, if seen this happen!

The halting problem is an NP-Complete problem. Since there is still no proof that P!=NP, there is no proof that the halting problem is impossible.
Do these small planets affect the orbit of sattelites send out by nasa.. Half the size of pluto, that's still a lot of mass.
It's even wrong. I always send my mail with smtp, which is the standard protocol for sending mail..
It's Van der Waal, not Wall.. Even cnn.com had it wrong.
Great, I was just planning to read it, and now you spoiled it :)
failsafe, failsafe.. Whats a failsafe..
1Mhz == 1000hz
So 1Ghz = 1000Mhz = 1000000Hz ;)
Looks good if you write it out
And I thought I played a bad game of Quake :)

We can all have a great laugh of this, but I guess the real news is at the bottom of the article..
It was microsoft's fault, so they have to fix it. Did they pay NYPD for this, or did the people of New York pay for this..
Yep, same with the arriane 5 that was launched dec. 10 with a huge sattelite.. Everything went OK, so nobody mentioned it..
Does anyone here have any experience with the datahand keyboards?
Maybe we now get a redhat-kids edition and a redhat 18+ edition..
