1. Have a Slashdot ID with six or less digits 2. Continue to use the same dozen memes because this is the Internet and memes never die 3. ??? 4. Profit!
There were a lot of them that used that design. I owned a Philips Magnavox player that used this, and also made use of a 25 second buffer to correct skipping.
Just what I came to say. I had quite the collection of tapes and a good quality player back in the day, and never once was a tape eaten or otherwise damaged.
Certainly not the first nor the most powerful of its kind, but among the most popular. I didn't think much about this until I saw Raspberry Pi 3's sitting on the shelf at Target a few weeks ago.
I still have my first gen that I used for many years as an SSH tunnel, Mumble server and LAMP development server. I could just leave it running 24/7 at home and it barely sips any power.
Nowadays I have it mounted to a clipboard with a breakout and some breadboards to try to encourage interest in programming and electronics for my children... back to the roots of what these things were originally conceived to be.
Purely curious, but what about FaceID do you find to be vastly superior? Many people I have spoken to seem to be somewhat indifferent about it (in comparison to TouchID) and usually I am told about how each has its pros and cons. I'm still using a phone with a thumbprint reader and I am content with it; never felt like it was so inconvenient that I needed facial recognition.
But poorly textured, pixelated pools of blood are perfectly fine.
It's not that PS1 era 3D graphics aren't super realistic, it's that they just flat-out look bad. The 8 and 16 bit era put out some games that still look appealing today. Much of the indie community finds success by creating modern games with the look and feel of old 2D games. I don't think I've seen a modern take on low-poly, low-res textured 3D graphics.
And then suffer all the exact same frustrations with that VM still restarting itself and reducing productivity whenever the hell it feels like it?

My complaint exactly. Win10 has shaped up to be a nonstarter for folks in research and data analysis who have tasks running for many days at a time.
The big question is why XBox software is even on the vanilla installation of Enterprise.

Is this a common practice in the Uk?
On the flip side
I see what you did there.
That wink face means you're being facetious, right?
But from the US Government's perspective, you need more than that.
Well you just touched on 3 of them... what about the other 80+?

Doesn't matter what platform you're using, the only way to keep Facebook out of your life is to stay away from Facebook.
Tanenbaum, is that you?
After I die I might finally be useful at gardening.
Those are some great insights, thanks!

Slashdot's comments section fell a decade ago.
but I play one on TV.
The "Linux wave" has been coming for about 20 years now... exactly when is it supposed to arrive?

Helvetica was always my fluff-it-up font of choice in high school.
Private customer information. That's the bottom line and why this is a problem for the casino as a business.
I sea what you did there.
Snaps snaps snaps!
