It was really easy to tell the puppets apart from the CGI. I was actually disappointed by how reliant they were on CGI for the antagonists, especially given how awesome the the masks and makeup looked in the LotR films.
I put this down to seeing every micro-expression, each twitch of the eye or slight tremble on a smile.
I agree. It's a new layer of realism that we're just not used to. It's similar to watching a Blu-ray at 1080p for the first time and being rather displeased by the sight of every pore, freckle and mole that you otherwise wouldn't notice on actors.
The same was true for Laughner in Tucson. The guy was clearly batshit loco, and the first gun shop he tried to buy from refused to sell. The second one, however, didn't raise any red flags and sold a weapon and ammo to him without question.
If you are planning on playing a lot of PC video games? Windows is the best platform.
People think that is a trollish thing to say, but it's absolutely true. Windows has the best driver support, performance and variety of games. Let's not tie 'PC vs console' into this.
Simple: My employer issues and requires the use of desk phones. I refuse to give out my personal cellphone number for work-related purposes. Just the same, the building where I work has terrible cellular coverage. So cellphones are out of the question.
If you're being irresponsible by trying to read a printed map while driving, then yes, that is a huge distraction.
However, I don't think any of those seven replies were suggesting that you attempt to do this. Rather, you use the map to study your route ahead of time, or pull safely off of the road and then read it.
(Assuming that by 'GPS,' you are referring to in-car GPS navigation.)
I agree with this, and under normal circumstances I also just confirm my destination ahead of time using a map.
However, when I had to make a sudden trip to San Diego (a city with which I am unfamiliar) and needed to transport and run errands for a relative who needed emergency surgery, having a GPS stuck right below the mirror in my rental car was the only way I could have accomplished everything that needed to be done around the city in the short amount of time I had to do it.
Also, people who have to drive for a living (making deliveries, visiting clients, etc) I would say that GPS navigation is far from wasted technology...
"Character growth" makes it sound like you're talking about character development, not in-game itinerary upgrades.
Just invent transparent aluminum, and you'll make your fortune.

I think I heard it best stated like this: It looks so realistic, you can see how fake it is.
I'm going to do the same to ward off other people.
Especially if you build it with the wrong number of limbs.
...as opposed to figuratively rehashing references?
I wouldn't go so far as to call this context-free, as the Holoduke decoy was the first thing that came to mind for me as well. =)
No more than a regular spider web is art.

Except that Apple didn't say that.
Tanenbaum, is that you?
Let's back this up...

It's a shame Ubuntu is so tightly locked down into that one UI without any way of changing it.

A "battered crust" is a rocky outer layer pelted by meteorites, and not the delicious outer layer of a corndog.
...followed by a little robotic arm which extends from the hole, holding a sign that says, "Ouch!"
Stillsuits.
Straw man.
It's all that money they're not putting toward Windows-only games.
since osx is the linux kernal
Oh no you di-in't!
There isn't actually a picture!

And the ability to purchase and obtain WiiWare and Virtual Console games.
Do people really worry what wine goes well with hamburgers?
Actually, yes.
