Upon inspection, when "froogle"ing "Nyan cat t-shirt", there are thirteen pages of results. This does not include all sorts of other media- people who make 'Nyan Cat' buttons at cons and sell them, the playstation themes mentioned in the comment section here, and any number of other products.

This trademark has absolutely not been protected until now against public OR commercial use.

Eh, different tools for different jobs. Tablets have their uses, especially as content consumption devices and for those who have difficulty using regular computers, while regular computers are usually much easier to do work on. Or, we go the gaming route- tablets have some fun little games out there that people have used to waste a ton of time and money, but traditional computers allow for some pretty darn awesome things too. It's just a matter of preference and what you want to use it for.

Realize that at the same time, the PS3 is a cheap blu-ray player, the Nintendo Wii is a completely new style of gaming, and that the following for a lot of this stuff is almost cult status. I know several places that insulting gamers could result in immediate peril.

Actually, after speaking with several Best Buy customers, I've learned that there's going to be quite a line opening day morning, or the night before, in some cases. These aren't all just die hard fans- even a few parents are going to be out there. Its really unfortunate that there won't be more casual gamers, as this system is supposed to really open things up for them.

You people really need to relax. If you want to bash Slashdot for having articles that are slipping in quality or not important at all, then take that directly to the editors, and don't ruin the article for other people with all the constant complaining.

While I'm at it, people might be more apt to listen to your complaints if you don't post useless things like "You're an idiot, Zonk". Instead of pointless insults, why not give them REASON and use LOGIC to say why you think they're an idiot?

When I first came here, I was amazed by some of the intellect and thought people put into the posts. Alas, things have changed. People complain about useless stories, and useless editors. Well, I'd like to complain about some useless people.

    Stupid people, stupid parents.

But hopefully numbers like that will change soon. You see so many people these days talking about parents censoring what their kids play. The way I see it, the upcoming generations of parents will know better than ours did.

Or I'm having some sort of pipe dream (Obviously from all that Mario I've been playing,) and we'll all turn into a bunch of hypocrites. I guess it could go either way, since some of us will not want our children playing, for example, GTA3. Others, though, may think that its harmless, since they played games like it when they were children. It really depends on the person.

  9. Re:Why is a video game a nuisance and not a book? on Miami Court Orders Take Two to Hand Over Bully · · Score: 1

While I agree that the First Amendment applies completely to this topic, and instead of having the courts censor games, parents should, you know, do their job and watch their kid, I have to disagree with the arguement that books are just as bad as video games. While I have seen some really disturbed things in books, mainly because I read Stephen King, one has to realise that most people are more likely to play a video game than they are to read a book. That may not be true for most of the slashdot crowd, since its rare to find this many people who can carry on an intelligent conversation, but for the general population, it holds true.

Most people, at least around where I live, don't read unless its school forced, and that stuff's pretty heavily censored by the administration. The games, however, are either censored by the parents, or not censored at all. Also something to consider: Is a parent more likely to ban a video game than they might be to ban a book? The child would still be reading, at least, opposed to just playing games.

I guess the point I'm trying to make is that books won't have as wide an affect on most kids as video games will. While I realise there are special cases, such as Harry Potter, for the most part, a kid's more likely to play a game than read a book.

I keep hearing more and more about this blu-ray, and honestly, it sounds like a scapegoat to me. The PS3 price, the slow production, all of that. As for how many blu-rays they'll have made by the time the launch comes around, well, that's still up for grabs. They could either gain experience and learn how to better produce, and hopefully, better market their system, or they could continue as they are now, and pray that they don't bomb this generation, which I'm doubting they will, unless the 360 suddenly gets a wave of decent exclusive titles. I'm not even going to mention the Wii, since many people will probably end up buying a Wii with another console.

There's always the chance that they eventually hit a limit they can make per month. While I realise that there may be no limit, I also realise that if they're having problems now, both with price and production time, I don't see them suddenly growing out of a slump that would double their production rate in a month and a half's time.

well, lets pause a moment and consider things. They plan on starting assembly near the end of september. For all intensive purposes, we'll say September 25th. Now, from then to the release date, assuming they will need one day to ship, they hope to have 400,000 units produced and shipped. That takes a total of 53 days to produce all those units. Now, after that, they hope to make another 800,00 units. This is, once more, assuming they continue, without stop, while the other launch continues. Starting once more on the 16th of November, and ending by the end of the year. Starting from November, they've got... 15 days left including the sixteenth, plus December, which gives them 31 days. 31+15 = 46 days, as basic math would tell us. What I want to know is, how do they plan to double the units in less time, and if they would speed it up, why DON'T they just speed up now, so launch demands can be met. Once more assuming that people are actually able to buy them.

One must realise that you can't trust some of the websites, or even the actual stores. Eb, for example, is notorious for not changing its release dates when the companies do. Since that has happened, I've had people asking me while I work at Best Buy to get them a copy of Final Fantasy XII, which is due in October, as far as I know, or Twilight Princess, which was due... last year. And they never changed that.
