Someone a little trigger happy on the topic selection? I'd rather not have icons over the first comment when I'm trying to read it. Where can I mod the topic as -1 Redundant?
No, I know that, of course. I even said I was an idiot. Anyway, as someone who recruits talent for a living, I make an effort to be educated about the fields that I'm recruiting. I'm not a nurse, but that doesn't mean that I can't make informed decisions about hiring them. Besides, the HR people aren't the only ones that make hiring decisions. We care about stuff like whether or not the guys going to show up for work, be a team player, focus on his tasks, etc. The technical stuff we defer to the IT manager. Ultimately, it's the IT manager who makes the final hiring decision, it's his budget that the salary is going to come out of anyway. HR types aren't all idiots who don't know jack. BTW, I honestly don't know much about programming, and only a little about networking. But I do know HR and staffing. If you put GGP in my job, how well would he do? We all have our areas of expertise.
Because we're not talking about energy. "The increase in the internal energy of a thermodynamic system is equal to the amount of heat energy added to the system minus the work done by the system on the surroundings." Please explain to us how the economy is a thermodynamic system. The GP is completely correct. Most of you may not like it, but it's the truth. Outsourcing IT may lead to IT job loss in the US, but it ultimately increases production. That increased production may lower prices, or it may produce more jobs, maybe not IT jobs, and maybe not US jobs, but jobs none the less. When the same work can be done at less cost, that allows the money that was "saved" to be used for other purposes. Outsourcing is merely making the world economy more efficient. Would you try to grow coconuts in Alaska? Of course not, it's possible, but the cost would be ridiculous. So you grow them in the tropics, that frees up Alaskans to club seals, or do IT, or whatever else they do up there.
You're right, I'm an idiot. I know absolutely nothing about IT. After all, I am an HR professional. Wait a sec, what am I doing on/.? Oh yeah, I'm here for all the hot babes.
But what is the reason for correlation? Is it that people that have children are more likely to hold conservative views? Or does being conservative lead to having more children? I used to be a liberal, but after I became a parent I started to find myself following more of the conservative platform.
Unless of course they stopped useing radar, because there is no good way to stop those waves once you send them out, and so radar would be broadcasting your position to any and all potential enemies, just begging to be invaded. You assume that aliens wear tin foil hats.
This argument has come up several times. If you RTFA then you will see this: "On Earth, military radars are the most powerful broadcast sources, followed by television and FM radio. If similar broadcast sources exist on other planets, facilities like MWA-LFD might detect them."
TV and communication media are not the only sources of radio waves. It would stand to reason that most civilizations that develop flight will eventually develop radar. Radar is very simple and reliable. Yeah, I know that there are stealth technologies, but commercial jetliners aren't using them. We'll probably be using radar for a very long time. Plus, radio is our current means of communicating with our spacecraft(isn't it? I may be wrong). If the society is space faring, and they have a well-developed space program, that may be a large source of radio waves that won't even have to escape an atmosphere.
"Given the massive distances between stars, astronomical mass extinction theories, and the time evolution takes, aren't the odds of two technically advanced civilizations being around at the same time...umm astronomical?:)"
The true probabilities are not known. We don't know how common life is. We don't know how often a mass extinction of life occurs. We don't know how long evolution takes except for on our one world. We don't have enough data to accurately predict whether or not life is rare or common in the universe. Another perspective could be that it is in fact more likely that advanced civilizations would be around at the same time if the universe has a consistant timeline. If the way that life-harboring star systems form, the way that life itself forms, and the way that intelligent life evolves is analogous across the universe then this may be the Golden Age of intelligent life throughout our galaxy.
co = two
axial = "being or situated in line with an axis" or "around or about an axis (a link between two or more places)" or "along, or parallel to, the main axis; lengthwise, longitudinal"
The term coax has nothing to do "spefically" with conveying electric current. That just happens to be its most common use. Etymology is your friend.
Actually, if you RTFA, another explains exactly why they play GTA and not the others and that is not the reason. And don't count on MTV for unbiased news, this is definitely an opinion piece.
"A lot of the kids who play FPS will gain a basic understanding (especially if they do poorly in their class-work) that all arabs are terrorists and are thus our enemy."
These are, of course, the same students that will gain a basic understanding that if you eat a mushroom you will grow to twice your size.
Those things were much more believable back in their time. Science has come a long way since then.

Here's a brief explanation with a picture.
That's a rather humancentric way of looking at it. Do photons really "age"?
When did I say anything about promiscuity? And by the way, your argument assumes that people actually use birth control.

Finally, Atom will be happy.

Who needs anything else?

And before anyone says anything... I should have said, co = Together; joint; jointly; mutually.
co = two
axial = "being or situated in line with an axis" or "around or about an axis (a link between two or more places)" or "along, or parallel to, the main axis; lengthwise, longitudinal"

Was the preview of your comment the first?

Well, obviously, the solution to Atari's problems is for you to go back to your job as a lead tester.
Probably the most common bathroom stall graffiti ever. Here I sit all broken hearted. I tried to shit and only farted.
It's interesting that you didn't know it, are you female? Maybe it's not as prevalent in women's bathrooms.

That's a rip off. This girl at a pub downtown is only $10/head.
I think you meant Hee Haw.
