How can an entity own curved sides and any shade of yellow. This is out of hand people. Had they did this and then printed the word Fluke on it OK. This is no different than Apples rounded corners. Companies can now own geometric shapes, colors, and even DNA. These are things of nature, not men. What is this world coming to?
Don't you know that in the United States of America you can't publish anything without a man in the middle to skim a percentage off the top? It's un-american to do it any other way. Heck even asking why it's that way is un-american.
(I know you asked for a serious answer. I am joking, but the publisher who thinks this is serious about it.)
Has anyone considered the fact that FB my have hired some devs to rake over this code the second it was released, find every little thing wrong with it they could, and spam the issues everywhere?
Not a week ago I heard a telling second hand of someone trying to carry their nine month old into an lingerie shop, that sold a few other adult items, and they were told they could not bring the kid in there. The reason they were told this was that if the law caught the person under 18 in there shop then there would be a fine to pay. If a physical shop owner is responsible for post a sign and keeping underage people out of their shop, then why not virtual shop owners?
You would be surprised what would happen in any size of organization if you cut the developers off of the deadline leash, give them a general outline of what is needed, and turn them loose. What comes out of the other end of this process will be a better application that functions better that if you hadn't. Now, I am speaking for developers like my self who take pleasure in making an application that does exactly what the user needs in a way that is easiest for them to use.
I won't even delve into the meeting issue on this post. Let just say a developers thought process is a train and most meetings derail that train. Not all, but most. A developer does not have to be at every meeting.
As a Programmer, Computer Tech, and Electronics major I feel GideonX is being a bit unfair.
1) Firewall: The fax machine contains all of the parts needed to scan. The IPod uses USB not that complicated of an interface. The IPod is meant to store files. People have made IDE interfaces for the serial port of a COMMODORE 64. This is plausible.
2) Jurassic Park: Full character development was not done. Had the 10 year old had access to the proper resources and people she might have. I was writing my first BASIC programs when I was 10! Plausible.
3) Mission Impossible: Formatting? Does everyone here type an email with perfect spacing, indention, and carriage returns every time? - Graphical News Groups - Ever heard of ocr or indexing?
4) Goldeneye: There are good hackers out there. Given a list of known exploits you would be surprised what a hacker can do.
5) Swordfish: People can write what every type of graphical interfaces they choose and it can look any way they want!
6) Transporter 2: Have you heaver heard of satellites, IP addresses, or Bluetooth phones?
7) Hackers: OK, pretties for the non tech. They didn't have the whole movie to convey to people how data is stored on a computer.
8) Antitrust: Ever head of OCR?
9) The Italian Job: Ever heard of GPS, 3D engines, and VR?
10) Wargames: Hello, computers, modems, and voice synthesizer all existed back then. Maybe the kid was running a program to verbalize all incoming messages!

Ten years from now The Human Brain Project will be known as Graystone Industries.
Where will I get totally probable conspiracy theories for my aluminum foil hat group now? (Big fan. He will be missed.)
I don't have any points. more people vote this up please so the rest of us who don't know much about this can be informed.

That's funny!
That's funny. My mind kinda went the same direction. I was wanting to post a picture of Gates and the wrestler China.
