    I love my mac but Finder is a poor analog to Windows Explorer. I hope that in addition to their new Spotlight technology in Tiger they will make it less clumsy to use. It's also time to surrender and make 2-button mice standard. Heresy, I know.

    Moyers is an idealogue's idealogue. He has been aggressively pushing his agenda in his reporting since he left his job as press secretary for LBJ. Why is it all right for him to advocate his positions through his reporting but not for others to do so?

    Well put. Businesses are not in business to create works of art under the hood, they are in business to make money. The goal of a software development team is to put something together that solves the problem at hand --- the level of landscaping permitted should be a business decision based on the risks inherent in shortcuts (buggy code, difficulty maintaining code, etc.) and those inherent in landscaping (cost, missed business opportunities, etc).

No. There is no way MS's cash hoard could be used responsibly in its entirety for R&D unless they are interested in putting a man on Mars. Hey, come to think of it that's not a bad idea...

    Given that they have acknowledged that don't own the patents and cannot sue for patent infringement. They say they are suing those who have violated licensing agreements. Since I assume Linus never signed any agreements with SCO this will go nowhere.
