Except that it doesn't stay in the ground. Much of it flows out into the ocean, floats around forever getting broken into smaller and smaller pieces and ends up killing things.
The Catholic Church tends to be a lot more reasonable about these sorts of things. It's usually the crazy American protestants who ignore obvious facts.
Wait...why would any disciplinary action be necessary? He made a homemade digital clock, and put it in an improvised project case. This is a pretty standard thing for electronics hobbyists. What exactly did he do wrong? Should he be punished for underestimating the school's paranoia?
What makes you thinks these other being in the universe aren't just as bad or worse. What makes you think these hypothetical other beings in the Universe are even watching? Hopefully you're not going to cite any alien abduction stories.
Nobody should have any qualms about mining anything on the Moon
Apparently you didn't see the shit-fit people were throwing several years ago when we deliberately crashed a probe into the moon to observe the composition of the regolith it kicked up. Dumping trash on the moon they said. Ridiculous, but there are apparently quite a few people on Slashdot who had this opinion.
None. That's my point. If you want build anything off planet, it is inefficient to bring the materials from earth. Yes, I know the article was billing this project as a way to get valuable metals for use here on Earth....but that strikes me as ridiculous...just something they tell the public to attract investment and positive attitudes. The real money is too far into the future after infrastructure is created.
"Hey, it's no problem if you want to protest. We have zone far away from the cameras, surrounded by snipers and riot police. There's no food, water, or porta-potties. Feel free to protest, as long as you do it there."
You need registry access to change those associations.... if these were changed by an untrusted source, your system is already compromised and changing the associations doesn't matter.
What harm does it do to rename a JPG to TXT? Why would I distrust an extension? If you put an infected executable on my machine and gave it a TXT file extension it's totally harmless. So it tries to open the file in notepad....no harm there.
Don't make it sound so sinister. The vote wasn't to demote Pluto. It was a vote to settle on the criteria an astronomical body must meet in order to be a planet. This was necessary because we've found more Pluto like bodies, and chances are we'll find more in the decades to follow.
It's not a recent trend. It's been the biggest argument for decades. Alcohol kills people. Alcohol turns regular people into assholes. Weed? Waaaaay more benign.

Ah, so I did. Sorry.

The English teacher that turned him in was female.
Because the posted speed limit is too slow. Probably to give the local police department a good income from tickets.
*A* retina? Did they clone a cyclops?
Our own women spend their time watching TV.
Oh come now, that's not true. In my 20 years coding professionally, I've met literally several American female coders. Several!
What about white dwarfs and neutron stars?

Do you know how much it costs to get it off Earth's surface?
2017 cannot come fast enough.
You don't actually believe this will change anything, do you?

If someone has altered the file associations, that means they already had enough access to your system to compromise it in far easier ways.

At least in the US, the government has gone after people unwittingly hosting illegal data many times before.

Tobacco company execs should be publicly flogged.
The guy was 83. Most people who don't smoke die before then.
Don't worry, somebody has his Katra.
I don't think anyone uploads pictures to Reddit. It's mostly posts linked to imgur.
I suspect all those pot-smoking teens are drinking too.
