Yes, you can definitely have Tiger running on the iMac, which I actually do as well. The iMac is setup as a dual-boot system with 9.2.1 and 10.4.x. I originally only loaded 9.x on the machine for nostaligia reasons, but followed that by installing 10.4 to use the machine for some light web browsing. Upon getting my hands on those CDs, however, It quickly became obvious that those games would refuse to run, even when loaded in classic mode.
Mainly, because she's not supposed to use the computer, but decided to sit down at it anyways to watch Blue's Clues (I have several episodes on there to load onto our phones in case we're going on a long trip.)
In the process, of course, she gave really informative names to everything, along the lines of BHJKKKLJYTFSpomsKJLHHGKJBKBHJKHBJKHHJKHJK
My daughter is getting old enough now to use a computer, and I've dug out an old iMac G3 DV that was given to us by a friend, and loaded several older pre-school games my mom had lying around from when my brothers were little. Now, not only can it be a great little preschool computer for her, but it can also be used online in a pinch. Or perhaps letting her have access to several of the show based sites that have content for the kids (Sid the Science Kid, Sesame Street, and several other PBS, Disney and Nick JR. shows)
I could now let her go to those, without having to worry about what she could get into on my computer. (she decided to rename a good chunk of my songs last time she sat on my computer)
Bottom line: Is it state of the art, the next big thing? of course not. but it did just make some older equipment just that much more useful.
Buying local would be a wonderful change, adn very welcome....except for the unfortunate fact that by the time the manufacturing sector gets ramped up again, there is very little local money left to buy such merchandise, and the ability to bring up a new business is left only to those few who have ammased wealth during this time.... yet another concentration of wealth occuring.
If we want people to use less gas, why not just raise the darn price?
Because as soon as you raise the price of the gas itself, you raise the price of everything that needs to be transported to store shelves (in other words, everything) Ever notice that the price of bread, milk, eggs, vegetables, etc, close to doubled in most areas when gas hit $4? (let alone when it passed $5)
Even if we curb personal usage of vehicles to short, unnecessary trips, those same gas prices are still going to come into play for anything on store shelves. And seeing as how everything is made in china anyways, how much gas is used in shipping something halfway around the world?
Ah, the BP6. One of the funnest computers I built for myself. Had my 366's OC'd to 602 for years, with a Matrox G400 for dual monitors, and a separate Promise card for a RAID setup. Was great having a home computer that had twice the CPU, Monitor, RAM and Hard Drive that most people had at the time (and still nowadays, even)
Ran like a champ. All for less then most people paid for a single 500MHz box at the time. And for certain tasks, it still feels faster then a 1.xGHz Celeron box I had to deal with recently, despite being several years older.
I also depended heavily on the original Natural keyboards, after finding several in the local PC shop's dumpster. The first keyboard I've seen since that comes close to it is the new Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000, which still does have the arrow and home keys the way they were intended to be, not where some drunk and/or stoned keyboard designer thought it would be funny to place the keys.
(Side note-Why must so many laptops _insist_ on fuckin around with layout of keys, esp Windows key, Enter key, alt and delete keys? half of laptops that I have to sit down at, I need to re-learn a keyboard layout.)
And Windows 98 SE was exactly that, essentially a service pack. Microsoft had no problems charging $30 for it. and ME was the full price of windows, and what was that? Oh yea, essentially a service pack that made everything worse. Lastly, Windows 2003 R2 NOT a free upgrade to existing customers. (granted, esp for SBS 2003, R2 did provide new features (SQL server 2005 rathern the 2000))
If the only people you know who think this, are liberals, you;re not hanging around too many conservatives. I have been utterly amazed at how many conservatives i know and speak with on occasion keep on hammering the same myths, that Saddam orchestrated 9/11, that we attacked iraq because al-qaeda was there, or several other bone-headed talking points.
I made the mistake of buying some last time I was in Cambridge, Ma visiting my parents. They are great sticks, USB 2.0 compatible*, and overall great if you dont mind the fact that they only work at 11mbps.
I contacted the manufacturer, which promptly responded that they would look into it, and never heard back.
In other words, dont waste your money if your time is valuable.
With 3 Macs in your house, you should have been taking advantage of Apple's OSX upgrades for families, in which $199 will get you the new version for up to 5 computers in a household. And if you felt like being even cheaper (and technically illegal) you could also take the 1 copy of Tiger, Panther, Jaguar, or any other version of OSX that you happen to be speaking of, and install it on every computer, as there are no serial #s, no activation, or anything else that Microsoft forces upon their users.
And as far as device drivers, while you are absolutely right that some devices never had drivers made for them from their manufacturers, the majority of those without drivers were products that were no longer sold anyway, and were long discontinued.
Which is all well and fine, unless XP still doesnt have support for said integrated SATA chip. Under which case, you either create a special install Cd for Windows, or try to find a floppy drive to load the driver, as Micro$haft still insists that floppy is the only wqay to install a driver during install (Even though the entire installation can be done from the CD it booted up off of:-/
There were a few movemnets like this, but the most prominent one that sticks in my head is the Shakers. To help them avoid the "evils" of sex, they would have sessions where they all gather in a room, and pretty much just shake, shaking the evil thoughts and needs out of their body. The main that they kept the society going was the adoption of orphans, as very few people willfully joined the society. At the turn of the 20th century, there were fewer orphans in the surrounding areas to bring to the lifestyle, therefore the society as a whole died out
Another point to keep in mind, is that you could also factor in Terminal Services, which while not as full-featured, can be a much more cost-effective solution for some situations. Using same said checklist, if a particular scenario doesnt entirely jsutify Citrix due to costs, it may still be better than foregoing a centralized appliaction altogether....
That said, i assist some of my customers with TS problems everyday, and i must say I DESPISE it. but at least it gets the job done when appropriate.
Well, Apple isnt supporting Win9x at all with iTunes, so thats not an issue. but yea, shipping an HFS+ addon to windows would have saved a lot of trouble. not to mention having to have 2 separate versions of the ipod
So, in effect, the Picard Maneuver has been scientifically confirmed?

Since then, I've just kept it in OS9.

Your parents didn't like you very much, did they?

But Bush isn't running again!

Seeing as how I'm in the process of looking for a new phone, is there a list of soon-to-be supported devices?

Amen, Brother!
You cant forget teh other alternative....
the girl "puts it on" in vibrate mode, and the guy gets nothing, thereby birth control
Well i should have no problem with that, seeing as how i whistle so out of key, that its not even funny

why don't you email Apple and tell them that you would be an iPod if they'd ship with OGG support?
so your gonna be an ipod when apple supports ogg?
Unless you consider the hot girl i work with....
