What makes you think the apps are safely sandboxed if the browser isn't? If the browser isn't sandboxed at all, why the fuck not? If it is and this still happened, then the sandbox isn't all that effective, especially if you can get someone to run code locally and call native APIs.
Back when Apple was trying to convince the public to accept this locked down app store model, one of the justifications was malware protection, specifically Jobs himself cited bluetooth worms. But the more these things start to look like and function like a general computer, the most likely attack vector is through websites just like on the desktop. The only other attack vector that Apple stops with this model is the fake screensavers, but apparently they aren't so good at catching unwanted code in the app store either, i believe there was a personal information theft app a few months back and just a few weeks ago there was a covert tethering app.
So i have to ask, if a website can line up a few exploits like this and compromise the entire device to the level needed to actually break the chain of trust Apple has created, what is the point of all this shit? Just so Apple can control their OS environment like a dictator?
I'd rather be able to charge things with standard USB ports, cables, backup batteries, etc, as they were intended, than charge with Apple-approved chargers 2x as fast.
It does, you just need a library for working with your token, and of course that token has to work at the driver level with your OS, but yea in general it works pretty well, certificates can be stored on the device and they can be retrieved from it when a specific website requests authentication.
Actually TRIM ensures there are free blocks of flash ready to be written quickly, otherwise they have to be erased first even if the OS thinks that particular logical address wasn't being used, which has a substantial performance penalty.
I've got a Vertex 60 in a While unibody macbook and it works fine, boot is 7-9 seconds, apps load almost instantly even if i start 10 at the same time.
I know TRIM doesn't work yet in OS X but the drive seems to take care of itself just fine.
We used to throw them in my friends in-ground pool, high concrete walls all around the outside of the pool area made it sound much louder to the people inside the house at the time.
Is Congress genuinely concerned or are they just curious how they can make "networked authoritarianism" work for them?"
I thought it was pretty clear at this point, our elected officials are two-faced pricks, whining about freedom everywhere else while doing everything they can to ruin it at home to "protect children" or "stop tourists".
So riddle me this, what would happen if i went to make a call from my cell phone to another number, but spoofed the caller ID, whose minutes am I then using? Who gets charged?
Doubt it would be the owner of the spoofed number paying. If it DOES work that way, it simply proves AT&T is incompetent. If it doesn't work that way, then their billing department isn't as dumb as their customer security department.
No it didn't. The fault here is entirely with AT&T, it is not because of missing passwords/pin numbers (which should not matter), nor is it a lack of regulation concerning caller ID.
They won't do that because ad revenue is variable, if the service does very well they can demand more money from advertisers, or just include more ads in the video stream. They can't very well start raising the consumer price though, or people will stop paying.
Hulu will blink before Apple does. Netflix for instance was (and is) using Silverlight for browser streaming, and they decided to go with HTTP streaming and a native App for the iPad and iPhone.
You haven't followed much of the history of Itanium's development have you?
I saw the movie though, Leo dies at the end.
Have some guacamole, you'll feel better.

I agree, and he knows too much now, he will have to be eliminated.
Actually i've not read/seen that yet (its a movie too, right?)
We haven't yet evolved to be smart enough to eat real food, at least most of us haven't.

Maybe if you had blown some shit up as a child you'd be a better troll today.

Really? You think the caller ID spoofing is the problem here?
Hey look at that, one day later, Hulu for iPhone, without using Flash. http://www.hulu.com/plus/devices

You realize the Chinese have spy satellites too, right? Try adjusting your tinfoil hat till the voices stop.
But....they won't stop! Can i call the CIA for home repair or something? No wait.... that's what they want me to do isn't it....
Someone tell me if i should hate her or not, the internet has failed me so far
