Does it actually use KDE3 somewhere under the hood? Or did you mean you want more apps to be ported? I meant that I want more apps to be ported. I'm not really sure how kde4 differs under the hood from kde3 to be honest.

What Examples of Security Theater Have You Encountered? Data centers are notorious for security theater. The data center we host our servers at utilize multiple palm scanners to gain entry through their doors, yet the walls touching these doors look to be drywall thin enough to where an intruder could very well just kick through them. Another example is data centers that are built from old missile silos. I mean c'mon. How many companies' data is important enough to where it warrants a site that could withstand a nuclear holocaust?

So what's the holdup? This small thing called trade secrets. nVidia's drivers (and I'm assuming hardware specs) contain trade secrets that they'd rather not make freely available to their competitors. The fact that no one else can create a product that can compete with them still tells me that this trend of keeping their trade secrets locked up in a proprietary format isn't going to change anytime soon. To be honest, I'm happy that nVidia even puts out Linux drivers that work with minimal hassle. Sure they may sometimes contain the occasional root exploit, but I still find it better than the alternatives currently available. I will however be interested to see how the AMD/ATI F/OSS drivers turn out. If they materialize into something worthwhile, I may very well turn from being an nVidia "fan boy".

The company I work for now uses djbdns for it's internal DNS. As a sysadmin who had to familiarize myself with it, I'll have to say it's such a pleasure to work with. My only nag is that it be updated such that its tools to add records support some of the newer records, like SRV. But there are web-based tools that make up for these short-comings.
