It's easier to say "it's too hard" rather then to just try to figure it out. Heck, I offer to show people how to do things all the time, but in reality, they just want me to do it for them. I can guarantee my time is worth more then most people who use the "time is money" excuse, but I still am willing to try new things and even *gasp* help other people try new things. Since when did everyone decide that learning "just enough" was ok? I need to stop before I get off on the topic of "professional students" and these idiots who think a degree makes them smarter.... I only have an XP harddrive so that I can run Visual Studio and play games... and World of Warcraft is the only game I don't have running in Linux (very well). There is no doubt that I would drop XP all together and just use my Ubuntu install if I could get WoW working better (which I will tackle again this weekend). The only reason I have Visual Studio is for work and don't work at home on the projects any more so this may not be a sticking point any longer. From a professional stand point, there are a few things Linux lacks that I really wish I could carry over. Those programs would be Photoshop (I don't like GIMP as much), Dreamweaver, Visual Studio (It's like an STD, you don't want it, but sometimes you can't get rid of it), and simple installs in general.

I'm glad a judge had common sense on MySpace's behalf. People want to shift blame to the medium used for the meeting, not the people in the real world who are at fault. The only people to blame in this case are the parents and the guy who committed the crime. It was the parent's job to know what their child was doing and to prevent her from meeting people like this. The world is full of bad people, but it's the parent's jobs to protect their children. Of course, this in no way removes responsibility for the crime from the guy. All I'm saying is that HE is responsible for committing the crime and the parents are responsible for not preventing their child from falling victim to him.

It's the same with PC's, either the graphics hardware is up to the task or it isn't. There is no reason to spend more money crippling your engine to run on a specific console when you know what it will look like anyway. When people bought the Wii, they basically bought a Game Cube with a cool controller. I'm not saying the Wii isn't entertaining, I'm just stating the fact that the hardware was not designed for good graphics quality (by today's standards). Just don't hold your breath for some stunning new engine for hardware such as the Wii.

If you're feeling discomfort or losing weight from just moving your arms around without resistance, you have serious issues to deal with. Yes, the Wii makes you move, a little, but it is not an effective weight loss or exercise tool for a healthy person. Maybe if you weighted the controllers, or stretched a rubber tube around your back and connected it to each controller, you might get enough resistance to be a mile cardio... if you continued playing for a long period of time.

Your talking about physical media versus a file that is downloaded. It costs them nothing but bandwidth for you to download another file. It's not really possible to draw an accurate comparison because of how new the idea of downloading movies (legally) is. If you purchase the rights to download a movie from Apple, it should be known that you are actually paying for a single file. Of course I'm not saying that I agree with this notion, but that is how they see it. Personally I prefer the idea that if I "buy" a title, I have purchased the right to download that title as many times as I want and in whatever formats strike me at the time...... but that's what I think it should be, not the way that makes the most money.
