Where did the 61% come from? If 54.2% of all consoles broke, then you have a 54.2% chance of any given console breaking. So the first console you buy would have 54.2% chance of dying, leaving 54.2% of all people having to replace their first X-Box. This means that the remaining 45.8% (100% - 54.2%) of people did not have their first console break.
My math gives me 45.8% (or 46%), not 61%. I didn't see 61% in the article, so I'm curious as to where you got that number.
Ok, with some quick math I figured the following (if I'm wrong, please let me know, these numbers are pretty scary and nobody's perfect):
1% : 5 failed devices
2% : 4 failed devices
5% : 3 failed devices
10% : 2 failed devices
21% : 1 failed devices
46% : no failures
With those numbers, I see an average of 0.7 failures per purchase.
So each customer would get 1.7 machines on average (including the final non-failing one). That means that if they all go through their warranty, Microsoft needs to produce 70% more devices than demand requires (assuming they don't simply repair them). Leading to a 70% production loss due to failures. That is a SERIOUS loss!
To all those that said I was wrong (I could be, I don't use my card all that often), does this apply to ALL debit cards, or only debit-mastercards?
Mine only says debit (along with the name of my bank) and as far as I knew the card was absolutely useless without the pin number (which only a real moron would put on the internet).
I guess you don't know about Apple's contributions to webkit then huh? I agree that they give little to the community, but don't write them off completely.
Aha, I'm not the only one!
Hermes for the server, Loki for the desktop, Paean was my old laptop (power brick went poof), Thor is my new desktop, Pan is my cellphone (bluetooth), Icarus is my N810 and another laptop is Pandora. Oh yeah, the network printer is called "printer":p
Hmmm, I wonder how many companies will start making small adapters that plug into your old phone/pda/etc's power plug so they work with this new interface...
I totally agree. Near where I live there is a strip mall that had a doctor, a car insurance company, a London Drugs, a greek restaurant, etc. Last year the owner (of the entire property) decided that they wanted to replace all the businesses with korean businesses. Now had this been korean food, korean entertainment, etc I would not have had a problem with it. What they did was replace each business by another business that did the EXACT same thing, but managed and run by korean people.
The insurance company was replaced by another korean insurance company, etc, etc.
Had white people tried to kick out all korean/asian/etc businesses and replace them by identical white-run businesses they would have had their ASSES sued, but other than a couple newspaper articles and a LOT of VERY angry business owners, the change still went through.
White racism DOES exist, people just try not to say anything about it. Some newspapers classified it as "reverse racism", which I find complete BS. It is full-out, straight-up regular racism, but nobody has the balls to tell a korean business owner that he can't do something.
But you never asked, or even gave him permission to take you to the library. Even if he doesn't charge you for it, you still never asked to be taken to the library.
Except in that case it is not even in valid url format, it is treating it as a keyword (after checking the dns in case you have something in your hosts file that is).
Go into firefox and type in "slashdot.gobcom" and you WILL get the nxdomain page!
The difference is that IE is redirecting even if you supplied an address with a correct format.
I believe I speek for 95% of Canada when I say Screw Ottawa. Little-know secret, Canadians really don't like ottawa any more than Americans like Texas!:p
"will there be enough spectrum to support all this wireless communication?"
Bah, in the future cellphones will have Z-Space Transponders.

Good lord, the thought of literally buying used advertisements on ebay is kind of mind-blowing...

Not if they aren't the ones selling the product in the first place (3rd party).
Last I checked you can't use a debit card over the internet...
There's also no way for the website to prove that the user IS underage...

How flexible are you?

What kind of damage could a table like this do to a credit card, backup tape, etc?
Canada can't see it either, anyone got another source?

dammit, *GOOD*
And the theory of relativity was supposed to be used for god...
Intended Use != Implemented Use
There is a difference between redirecting on a keyword (not in URL format) and with a properly formatted (yet incorrect) URL.
"slashdot" should do a search, "slashdot.gobcom" should show an nxdomain error.
It is if he drives you to the library to look it up, which is what IE is doing by redirecting you to bing.

Last I heard he was alread doing that himself quite well :p
