Agreed. When I'm having a bad day, or feeling frustrated about school work (college), I like to fire up a game and blow the living shit out of something;)
I am only responding to your last statement. As a Canadian who has visited many areas of both the US and Europe, I can tell you that Americans are the only people who DON'T respect Canadians. You are AC, so I don't know what nationality you are, but if you are American, believe me, you guys are some of the LEAST respected people in the world.
Typically your phone number's only outgoing connections are ones that YOU initialize. If you phone someone and tell them about a sale at Zellers, they phone someone else, who phones someone else, etc. Unless the person you talked to discloses their source, nobody knows your phone number.
Now, if you email them, and they forward it to their friends, who forward it, etc, etc, then EVERY person that EVER gets that email, will get your IP address!Don't even get me started on advertisements embedded into other websites, etc.
The other big problem is dynamic IP's and zombie machines. IP addresses change, it is their nature, phone number typically do not. There is also the problem of zombie machines that get turned into proxies. It is much, much more difficult to hijack someone's phone line (you typically need physical access) than an home network. Telus's modems now contain built-in wireless routers, with NO PASSWORD! It is pretty easy to tell if someone has hijacked your phone line, but if someone connects to the wireless router you didn't know even existed (yes, some people still have wired-only connections at home), then you can be screwed over pretty easily.
I am sick and tired of people comparing IP addresses with Telephone numbers in a security and privacy standpoint. Yes, they serve the same function, but they do so in ENTIRELY different fashions.
I had the same problem with flash crashing both my RSS reader and Firefox. The version I was using was from adobe's site (friend put it in for me). I got so fed up with my ENTIRE browser crashing on 50% of the flash-enabled sites that I got rid of it. It turns out that the Ubuntu repo's have a 64bit flash10 that seems to work just fine. The only problem is that it didn't install into my RSS reader (liferea), but it works perfectly (though slowly) in Firefox.
Don't get me wrong, I believe flash is the second worst thing to ever happen to the Internet (behind IE), I just wanted to let you know that the repo versions are MUCH more stable.
My guess is that it seriously messes up their insides when they chew it. Similar to using egg-shells to protect your garden from slugs, it tears up their bellies.
Actually, you'd be surprised just how popular those RFID cards are. We did an RFID project in college last year, so we had a a bunch of readers. We were bored for a while so we started scanning everything we could find. Turns out quite a few bank cards, admission cards, etc have them without ANY visual indication of them.
If you ever get your hands on an RFID reader, grab all the contents of your and your friends' pockets and see for yourself.
Didn't they also just announce that they are NOT joining in on the suite, simply advising the EU about facts regarding browsers, standards and the web in general?
We are following it closely and are obviously interested in the outcome. Mozilla has received âoeinterested third partyâ status in the ECâ(TM)s investigation. As a result, we may see the Statement of Objections confidentially. We may participate in a hearing if the EC concurs. Mozillaâ(TM)s role as an interested third party best enables us to contribute our knowledge of the browser industry to the EC. Mozilla is not a complainant; we have not "joined the suit", despite some reports to the contrary.
Maybe before CWMike starts posting articles about Mozilla joining a suit, he should check first! Here's the Link
Wow, that's one of the most insightful posts I've seen in a LONG time! I wonder what WOULD happen to the web if adds stopped getting served to the majority of users.
I noticed that that feature was missing in the repo-installed version. Is there another repo I can add to get the newer versions?
I am also interested in becoming a beta-tester for you if you like. I use my N810 for college stuff all the time and have been looking for something like this for a while now. I would love to test out new builds and send you feedback on a regular basis.
PM me if you are interested in acquiring another beta tester.
I noticed that that part was missing, is there any chance this will make it into the repositories soon, or this there another private repository I can add to get the new stuff?
I would be very interested in possibly becoming a beta-tester, I use my N810 for college stuff, so any productivity apps I could test would be amazing. I would have no problem in sending in bug reports every now and then if you like.
I hate wasting a comment on an AC, but do you really, honestly think that the reason most Linux users use Linux is the price?? Linux is open, secure, reliable, efficient, stable, consistent and unbelievably portable and extend-able.

Yes, I have some Karma to burn!
AC, you are the two.
This is the Internet. I thought all the girls were FBI agents, depending on perceived age?
That's how your average /.er would read that.
Where exactly is the verb associated with W3C? Or has Nokia now become a verb?
Sorry, I was thinking a rubber ball.
I really need to stop randomly scrolling up and down before responding to posts...
Paying $59.25 for windows XP would be no problem, if you could return Vista for a decent amount!
The major difference I see is exposure.

You must be new here...
A girl is a girl!
Sell??? just give them away!
Get your free office software, free operating systems and free productivity software!!!
You may eat a little money on the disks, but I'm sure if you contacted Canonical, they'd chip in for it!
Wow, I don't know whether to mod you Informative or Funny...

...the W3C tried to Nokia and Apple got all shitty about it.
I think you're missing a word in there somewheres...
ultimately, the cats would be less numerous if they were fixed
There, fixed that for you
Yeah, ok, we'll see how long you keep your job after you set off a Tesla Coil in the Server Room!
My guess is that it seriously messes up their insides when they chew it. Similar to using egg-shells to protect your garden from slugs, it tears up their bellies.
Put a few tiny holes in it and fill it with water-diluted Tabasco Sauce. This way when the dog squeezes it in their mouth, they get a good shot of it!

Unfortunately, they are already releasing shitty music with DRM, and people are buying it!
If they can sell Britney Spears with DRM, what the hell do you expect them to fail to sell without DRM???
