  2. Child-pornography by children on W3C.org Briefly Censored In Finland · · Score: 2, Informative

There have actually been cases of this happening. Basically what usually happens is the children (up to 17) are punished without the law (suspended if done at school, etc) and any adults/companies/etc knowingly involved in the reproduction, distribution and/or storage of the material are slapped (rather viciously) with child-pornography charges.

The children are usually not charged legally, but after their parents, school administration, older siblings, etc get a hold of them, they wish they hadn't done it.

  3. Falling behind... on Windows Mobile 7 Phone Release Delayed Again · · Score: 2, Interesting

Wow, Microsoft is really falling behind here.

Google has just released a prototype Android phone for review and Apple is still going strong with the iPhone.

I hope Google is able to push their OS hard enough to knock MS right out of the phone market. The last thing I want is a phone running a proprietary OS that is impossible to program for...

I think the best thing about the Android compared to other phone OS's is the open development. It can be programmed easily using well known and widely used languages, unlike the iPhone that requires Objective-C!

The problem would be that they would probably make some kind of proprietary "download windows program" system that doesn't even use the browser. This would be similar to Linux's repositories, but you would not be able to change the list of download servers. So yes, you would need to download IE, install IE, then download FF and install FF... :(

Where I live there is a test you can take in grade 7 (end of elementary school) that lets you skip Math 8, giving you an extra block. Unfortunately, our grade 7 teacher neglected to tell us about this test, so when we got to Math 8 we found out the smart kids from the other elementary schools had skipped it. Actually, if you don't think ahead, and try to connect, it brings up an error along the lines of "Could Not Connect To Server" and actually asks if you would like to play offline instead! As for a reboot, I don't see how that is relevant. Your authorization is not tied to your running session, the offline mode simply runs (without internet connection) as the LAST user to have logged in.

The only time you would ever really run into a problem is if you tried to play online while in offline mode, which is pretty much the main place they are trying to prevent piracy (multiple people using the same account simulataniously). As for local-network-multiplayer, I don't remember the circumstances, you may need the Internet, but I can't remember exactly.
