There have actually been cases of this happening. Basically what usually happens is the children (up to 17) are punished without the law (suspended if done at school, etc) and any adults/companies/etc knowingly involved in the reproduction, distribution and/or storage of the material are slapped (rather viciously) with child-pornography charges.
The children are usually not charged legally, but after their parents, school administration, older siblings, etc get a hold of them, they wish they hadn't done it.
Google has just released a prototype Android phone for review and Apple is still going strong with the iPhone.
I hope Google is able to push their OS hard enough to knock MS right out of the phone market. The last thing I want is a phone running a proprietary OS that is impossible to program for...
I think the best thing about the Android compared to other phone OS's is the open development. It can be programmed easily using well known and widely used languages, unlike the iPhone that requires Objective-C!
Funny thing is the 17 year old, when his mother asked about porn, said are you stupid, that computer cost me way too much money to screw up with porn sites.
I run Linux with a small XP install for my games (I have really bad ATI drivers for Linux) where I have stripped out everything right down to the calculator. Well, everything but Windows Movie Maker...
When you can uninstall the freaking calculator, but not a bloated, seldom used video editor, there is something SERIOUSLY wrong with your operating system!
The problem would be that they would probably make some kind of proprietary "download windows program" system that doesn't even use the browser. This would be similar to Linux's repositories, but you would not be able to change the list of download servers. So yes, you would need to download IE, install IE, then download FF and install FF...:(
Where I live there is a test you can take in grade 7 (end of elementary school) that lets you skip Math 8, giving you an extra block. Unfortunately, our grade 7 teacher neglected to tell us about this test, so when we got to Math 8 we found out the smart kids from the other elementary schools had skipped it. Needless to say, we were PISSED!
The problem is that if an attacker has set themselves up to be able to intercept such an email, they could simply re-send one themselves and intercept the email THEY created, where the cookies would match.
True, there is a HUGE difference between a person pretending to be suspicious and someone who is trying to hide something suspicious. Anyone who plays poker can tell you how hard it is to hide a tell and how hard it is to successfully fake one.
Actually, if you don't think ahead, and try to connect, it brings up an error along the lines of "Could Not Connect To Server" and actually asks if you would like to play offline instead! As for a reboot, I don't see how that is relevant. Your authorization is not tied to your running session, the offline mode simply runs (without internet connection) as the LAST user to have logged in.
The only time you would ever really run into a problem is if you tried to play online while in offline mode, which is pretty much the main place they are trying to prevent piracy (multiple people using the same account simulataniously). As for local-network-multiplayer, I don't remember the circumstances, you may need the Internet, but I can't remember exactly.
Steam works just fine without internet. Just click "Play Offline" and it skips the login check. This works amazingly well on laptops when you are on the bus, in the car, etc.
Must be new here.
...considering his uid is HALF that of yours...

Wow, Microsoft is really falling behind here.

Buddy, if anyone outside of Apple knew how to do that, it would have been done long ago...
The Dead Collector: I can't.
You missed one...
I'm too lazy to search for it, but either I'm having one hell of a deja-vu moment, or slashdot ran a story about this exact thing a few months ago...
Now I'm no materials expert, but if a statically charged comb can bend a nearby stream of falling water, would it not also affect gasoline?
Funny thing is the 17 year old, when his mother asked about porn, said are you stupid, that computer cost me way too much money to screw up with porn sites.
Haha, you'll fall for anything won't you...
We're willing to wipe the slate clean, give you a fresh start.
Does this mean they'll forget about my torrents?
+1 Interesting, +1 Funny, I'm torn....
I eat brown rice you insensitive clod!
Windows update doesn't supply Firefox.
... Google searches for YOU!
There, fixed that for you.

This is slashdot, what do you think?

Yes, you can do exactly that, in fact I used to do that with the original half-life all the time.

Could someone please explain the difference between what they are doing and simply installing SSL Certs?
This sounds a lot like non-news to me...
Wow, not even a single post and already a 503...
