  1. Migration goot on Why Redhat Choose ext3 For 7.2 · · Score: 1

    Migration is indeed very important.

I once tried creating a boot disk which supports ReiserFS in order to fix a broken linux machine, and couldn't find anything like that ANYWHERE. I didn't have any linux machine near me, so I couldn't create one myself...

At least ext3 will not have that problem.

  3. Humanoid animals on Web-Based Comics · · Score: 1
I don't like humanoid animals, like Sabrina or Funny Farm. I think the only exception is FreeFall - maybe because the genetically-uplifted wolf there doesn't look too human.

What's the point in drawing an entity that looks almost like a human, and has a pair of breasts, but also has the head of an animal? Wouldn't it be simpler just to draw her as a human?

I've got no problems with talking animals, though.. although Bun-bun is evil and I really hate him.

  5. His text reminds me of 4dos on Are Unix GUIs All Wrong? · · Score: 1
Many ideas that the guy described do exist in 4dos, which is a command.com replacement for DOS and Windows. Things like viewing command history in a window and possibly also a key combination that pop-ups a filename completion window, and many other things too, like a rich scripting language (although kinda ugly one, since it's based on the .BAT syntax). When I was in the DOS age, I used to fool around a lot with 4dos. I especially liked the TAB filename completion, the hotkey macros (alt-x for "exit" to quickly close a window, like alt-d in unix) and the cute file viewer which was executed using the command LIST

I wish someone enhanced one of the linux shells and made it similar to 4dos.

    Hi Anne.

You seem to be drawing a lot of attention here, especially from the AC community.

I wanted to ask if you have any relation to Nurit Sela. There was such a girl in a Fidonet-style mail network called UltiNet.

The main difference between UltiNet and the newsgroups/forums/weblogs on the 'net is that in UltiNet (and in FidoNet too), people were expected to write under their real names, except in several forums (mainly designated for jokes and flames) where handles were allowed.

Like you, Nurit Sela (a female name. Nurit == Buttercup, Sela == Rock) was drawing a lot of attention, but after a while, the suspect arrised that she's not a real girl, because nobody actually contacted her on the phone and she never showed up in the meetings (yes, Ultinet had user meetings!). Nurit had to disgracefully leave the network, quoting a song about her blood dripping on the flowers, or something.

Hmm.. that's all. I just felt I wanted to write that. I would have written it to you in a private message, had I known your email.

By the way, UltiNet still exists. They have something like 15 participants now. :)

I watched 7 episodes and I think it's enough. (I wish someone came and saved him from those nasty girls. I think I'll try drawing Hime-chan, protecting him from Evil Narusegawa) I'm looking for an anime that wouldn't make me feel stupid while watching it.. something with a good plot. So far, Fushigi Yuugi was the closest match.

So why are all the companies so cheap? Why can't they create an MP3 player with 1gb storage space? We are past the Commodore64 days, for god's sake.
