them some money for their content (nobody EVER turns down money.)

If I was asking them for a PRICE for their Karaoke CDs/DVDs to play in a PC based player, I bet that I'd be able to license it.

  2. Celebrity Death Match!!! on Google and Microsoft Help To Defend Fair Use · · Score: 1

  5. CD Baby, the Podsafe Music Network, GarageBand... on HMV Canada Cuts Music CD Prices · · Score: 1

Just Google for podsafe music or Creative Commons licensed music.

I haven't needed to buy packaged crap (what I also call "trans-fat" or "hydrogenated" music,) for years.

You could also listen to some music podcasts (look in the iTunes music store.)

You can do yourself and the artists some good.

  6. What unbridled optimism, on HMV Canada Cuts Music CD Prices · · Score: 2, Insightful

to actually expect that the fees collected will go to the artists.

OF COURSE THE ARTISTS GET NOTHING!

    Lets review some definitions:

Slut: someone who does something for the love of it. (see also: Amateur [and its spelled right!])
Whore: someone who does something strictly for money.
Pimp: someone who tries to make whores into sluts by removing the profit motive. (see also: RIAA)
John: someone who pays through the nose for everything.
(The fuckin' you're getting isn't worth the fuckin' you're taking.)

When ever I upload a file (which I do on a regular basis, three times a week,) my upload speed starts off average and then, every second I upload, the speed goes down.

By the end of the transfer, I'm usually down to a crawl.

I'm using FTP (different port from P2P) but that doesn't matter, they are throttling the speed regardless.

US style capitalism is only good when your gummimnt doesn't give a shit about its citizenry.

  11. SoundExchange should be before the RICO judge on SoundExchange Backs Off DRM for Webcasters · · Score: 3, Insightful

because its just an extortion racket.

    Let me get this straight...

SoundExchange are going to collect $50k from each and every WebCaster radio station.

Then the artists have to find out wether they played their songs, or not, from every single WebCaster. (If you believe people are consistently that diligent, I have a bridge to sell you in Brooklyn.)

Then the artists have to figure out how much of those $50ks SoundExchange might owe the artist. (Some of these guys and gals can play great. Math, they're not so hot at.)

Then the artists have to try to collect, less the euphemistically called administration fees of course (can you say 110%.)

Get the "Piperazine"! I'm looking at a nastytape worm here.

  12. Now that the RIAA's clients are dropping DRM, on SoundExchange Backs Off DRM for Webcasters · · Score: 1

They can keep their opinion to themselves, and they can keep their grubby little fingers off of my network.

(I HAVE noticed that ComCast uploads via FTP of my episodes start at about 194KBps and throttle down to a measly 50KBps by the end of a 25MB file upload. Down is throttled as well but resumes after a couple of minutes. [Fuckers can't even tell the difference between P2P ports and the FTP port.])
