  1. The Comic was shit anyways on X-Men Trailer Released · · Score: 1

Come on, name one good comic Marvel has put out in the last 5 years? DC is just as bad, even their Vertigo label is starting to suck. The really good, cutting edge, comics are still the independents.

  2. Bang your head against the screen on X-Men Trailer Released · · Score: 1

Do it many times, and eventually you'll start to see many interesting things, irregardless of what OS you're running.

  3. What would be really cool on Security Analysis of My.MP3.com and Beam-It Protocol · · Score: 1

Now if they could just get it to work with CDs I actually own. Damn that Error 29!

  4. Re:Blame Canada: Live! on 'South Park' Nominated for Oscar · · Score: 1

Michael J Fox, William Shatner and Peter Jennings!

  5. Let's send Keven Costner to Mars on On to Mars · · Score: 1

Yes, please, and all his (so-called) movies too. Let's make the world a better place.

  6. Not nearly enough on MP3.com's Beam-It · · Score: 1

Well, my CD selection consists of mostly Jazz/Blues and I scanned in all of my CDs over the weekend (around 700). I'd say I had around a 20% success rate. I have around 2500 tracks available to me, which is pretty damn good. Nothing like being able to randomnly play them at will.

It's really odd what music they have in their database. I was shocked when my 9 CD Stax/Volt box set was there but some very popular John Coltrane classics were not. In another case they had the Best of Screamin' Jay Hawkins (love those Constipation Blues, hehe) but not The Best of Fats Domino. Go figure.

What's even more frustrating is how sensitive the Beam-It software is. In many cases one or two CDs of a multi-CD collection refuses to scan in, and there's really no way to fix this. And the blue-screens! Sheesh! It seemed like every other Error 17 (CD not found) would cause the dreaded screen-of death). This almost always required a hard reset.

  7. Early HDTV adopters screwed w/Firewire on FCC Wading Into Digital TV Quagmire · · Score: 1

Lucky me, I just bought my Panasonic HDTV and now the cable industry wants to use Firewire as the standard connection for HDTV.

Of course none of the HDTVs available now have Firewire, most have either RGB or Component inputs (mine has both), so if Firewire is chosen we're screwed.

  8. How about an Mp3 pacemaker? on MP3 Player in a Watch · · Score: 3

Perfect for those of us who are tone deaf. Always keeps you in time with the music. Don't play anything too fast though...

  9. Hollywood doesn't have the balls on Part of Ender's Game Script Posted · · Score: 4

Ender's Game is about the cruelty of humanity, (specifically children on children). Make no mistake, this is no children's movie, Ender is a murderer. Taking that out of the movie will be changing the whole nature of the story, making it less than what it is. What Hollywood studio would have the balls to show one 7yr old murdering another? Unfortunately none of them, and thus the whole story is ruined. I generally am not a big fan of violence in movies (can't stand the bang-bang shoot 'em ups anymore), but in this case the violence is necessary; intregal to the story. Mr. Card puts up an excellent case against violence by showing just how brutal real violence can be. What a shame the full extent of it won't be preserved for the big screen.

  10. Who's this for exactly? on 4.8G Portable MP3 Player · · Score: 1

Seems to me with over 1000 possible songs stored this is the perfect device for a professional DJ or in place of a Car CD changer. How many folks would want to go jogging wearing a $500 walkman? I get sweat all over it and have a habbit of dropping those things a million times, and praying everytime they survived.

  11. Can you say "Apple Pippen"? on More on the MS "X-Box" · · Score: 1

It's allready been done, and it's failed miserably. Whether or not this is because it was orchestrated by Apple is another issue. People either want a videogame or a PC, they don't want both in the same machine. Will a DVD player make a difference at this point? Allready standalone players are under $199, and should be in the sub $150 range by the time all these new consoles come out. Can MS pull it off? I don't think so...

  13. The Bigger mistake is no net-play ootb on Sega Dreamcasts and LAN Access? · · Score: 1

This is where Sega is going to take a big hit. You can bet the PSX2 and Dolphin will ship with net-multiplay all set to go. By the time Sega gets their act together it will be close to the PSX2's North American release and by then it might be too late.

  14. You guys are missing something on Sega Dreamcasts and LAN Access? · · Score: 1

What's the point in having an ethernet adapter if there is no online gaming? If find it humorous and a bit deceptive that Sega's commercials are pushing the Dreamcast's multiplay capabilities when that feature is still vaporware. Sega went so far as to remove the net-ability of the American versions of their games.
