    This thread was very refreshing to me as I thought I was alone in not ever joining facebook as I saw what it was from the very beginning. A tool to hate the people you once thought of as friends. But after this thread I feel that there are sensible people and only the gormless attention whores are its users.

    I find the internet almost unusable when I have to browse without NoScript or some kind of ad blocker. It's appalling for someone who came from the Arpanet days. *

    I take it one step further and use NoScript with FF. Nothing runs. Sometimes I'll allow scripts to run wide-open and find most of the internet is almost un-viewable by all the clutter. *

    In radio control car racing, I've seen the power shift from gas/nitro motors to electrics in short order. Had everything to do with brushless motors and lithium polymer batteries. Full size electric cars will have their day, just not yet. *

    Thank you, I did. I only have my baby toe dipped into the IT world now in an business ownership role. Good to know there are still people out there that haven't worked in IT long enough to realize that IT IS NOT A CRAFT and you will never perfect anything and will continue to have to learn things that don't mean a pile a beans just a couple of years later. Great gig for me in my 20's, not so much in my 40's and approaching 50's. I'm old school IT and done with it. Enjoy. *

    "the USA are at an artificial disadvantage is that as each new generation of communication technology rolls out" I can assure you that future internet access technologies will have nothing to do with laying any kind of land cables. This will bring the U.S. up to par (or above) once all communications are via satellite or some other form of wireless.
