    "Super Hero" crap isn't SF, though. It's more of that Marvel-type crap. SF is about looking forward with wonder, not rehashed 1950's style villains and heroes.

  7. I was about 22 when I got my first job that paid $4 an hour. I felt like I had finally arrived from the minimum wage ($2.65/hr) jobs that my friends were still stuck in.

    However, my first room after High School when I moved out was $42 a month. (I soon moved to a better rooming house that had a club kitchen. It was $65/month.)

    Apple can scuttle their binaey compatility yet again.

    We'll see if they do. There are not workstation worthy ARM chips to compete with thr iSeries parts, but Apple has nearly abandoned that market segment. If they didn't need Xcode on the Mac as their iGadget development platform, they might let the thing wither away.

    A 4 x 5, 5 x 7, or 8 x 10 sheet film negative is vastly larger than a little frame on a roll of film, whether the camera back is oriented portrait or landscape.

  23. The reason for sealed-in batteries is Apple isn't good enough at case design to make a reliable user-openable battery compartment.

    They're really not any better than average at that sort of thing. The battery terminals can be metal fingers bonded to the plastic of the case outside the water seal, so 'waterproof' isn't even a valid excuse.
