The once proud technology behemouth, Sony, has failed at nearly every lame attempt they've made on everything lately except the PS4. This will probably backfire on them as well as many of the other brilliant ideas they've had. Instead of trying to be an "also ran", they should start innovating again. But it's probably already too late. Somebody should just hand them a shovel.
It's not just solar. It's everything that doesn't conform to their production methods. If they're primarlity coal fired, they're against everything that isn't coal. If thei're oil fired, they're against everything that isn't oil. Etc etc etc. They should be going with Liquid-fluoride thorium reactors. They're adverse to anything that isn't what they're already doing. But China and India are going with thorium reactors.
I've watched SpaceX and NASA launches. The scenes I've seen from their control rooms speaks volumes. A NASA launch has zillion of people and monitors in their control room. SpaceX has maybe 30 people in theirs. NASA seems to have become a public works project.
Since everybody is trying to make a browser into an application platform, why not just rename it Microsoft PC? But we know it'll stand for puppy chow. It'll also be interesting to see if Micosoft ends up eating their own dog food.:-)
I agree 100%. Using LFTR's you could direclty synthesize fertilizer from air. Solar power will always be too expensive and unreliable. Especially compared to a LFTR.
The multi warhead capable assertion is lame. It's just a matter of the weight the missle is capable of delivering. Since the miniaturization of thermonuclear war heads has been done years ago, this is silly. A W-88 warhead in the US arsenal weighs little enough to be transported on an appliance dolly for heavens sake.

When my daughter was a teenager and going to beauty school, I let her drive my Ford F150 truck to school. She crashed it twice while texting and driving. TWICE! At least she was honest about it. Once she ran into the back of some poor slob in a little Toyota something or other. The little Toyota got creamed! The thing was nearly totaled. My truck only got a hole in the plastic bumper valence. Fortunately goofball daughter didn't get a scratch on her either time. Her victims were almost as lucky.
As soon as techies start making unacceptable demands on management, the companies will just pull up stakes and move elsewhere. Then wherever the unions started agitating will end up like post-apocalyptic Detroit.
I agree. When they tried to change to a mobile phone retailer, they didn't do well. Their purpose became muddied and second class. When I did go into one for a cable, connector or part, it was my last resort if I wanted it today. They often did not have it or had it for an absurd price. It would be costly now to change back to their roots, but I don't think there is an alternative if they intend to survive. If they return to a hobbyist store, they should do it with all their heart and purpose....or go back to selling leather.
I like women. Heck, my wife an daughter are women. It's unusual that it is almost necessary to define that these days. But when I see women linebackers on an NFL winning team I'll know us guys are doomed.;-)
After a nuclear war they'll find footprints leading to the only thing that hasn't dissolved. Just like the Clovis people controversy, there'll be an argument whether the makers originated in Europe like the Salutreans. It'll be a wonder in a museum.
I've seen the thousands of people used to monitor space launches run by government programs. Like all government programs, they become public works projects. My son works for SpaceX in Torrance California. Their last successful launch of the Falcon 9 had 39 guys monitoring the launch. 39! I am doubtful China can match SpaceX. I can't wait till the manned Dragon capsule launch.I hope SpaceX eats everybody else's lunch. I confident they will too.:-)
There are 3 companies. Genica, Evertek, and Geeks. They're 2 blocks away from me in Temecula, California. Only the brick and mortar retail store is in Oceanside now. If you're a business, you can still buy from Evertek. I think they just bailed out of the online retail business. They have a pretty huge warehouse right here in Temecula. I just got the email notice, so I'm not sure what the rest of all this means yet. I'll find out more Monday though.
