    Sounds like the police observer handbook needs to be updated. Everyone that wants to document possible police action should now do this.

    people should be smart enough to understand that "being in the 1%" is not only a money calculation and has an attitudinal component. There are plenty of people who fit the financial definition that don't fit the attitudinal definition, like Stephen King for example.

    I know I am in a small minority, but I am fine with Unity. The only think I haven't gotten used to is the real lack of a application menu.

    But since it's about a 90/10 percent split for things I do all the time vs. things I don't do often then I don't have a real problem with it.

    as pointed out last time, Dogpile.com holds a massive amount of prior art if the claim is searching multiple sources with one interface.

    (Not to mention as a programmer is damn obvious).

    I hear the words "teacher pay" starting to echo.

    Well, here's on the Slashdot doesn't like to touch: administrator pay. Administrator pay is a problem in education, healthcare, the corporate sector, government agencies... it's across the board. And when it comes to education it's almost a taboo subject.

    before we talk about entitlements I think we need to create a proper bar graph where one bar is entitlements and the other is military. Then we can talk entitlement cut.

    It's not that there is nothing there to cut, it's just that the entitlement discussion is entirely out of proportion.

    The thing is they don't care about your fancy book learning, they want that money in their back account NOW.

    It's yet another problem with corporate governance. They'd rather take the $5 they earn right now rather than the $5000 it can grow into if they cultivate a long-term strategy and act in a sane manor.

    We need to be wary of Kahn Academy, but we have to be wary of "experts" that are condemning Kahn Academy as well.

    A lot of times the "experts" doing on the complaining in popular media are just as worthless as listening to your fat neighbor who is bitching over his beer on his porch. Most of the talking heads on TV are like this and more and more even the people that are high ranking in governmental and professional organizations are well is well. It's because they're better at bullshit then their "expert" subject.

    So.. as far as Kahn Academy, it's likely a little bit of both sides are right and both sides are wrong. You have "educators" that don't want to absorb different ideas and you have Kahn who is also a bit of an ass himself.
