    Actually no...Android is here to stay and won't move away from Java and Oracle knows that very well. So they're trying to have their cake (Java made more popular by way of Android dev) and eat it too (grab lots of monies from Google for using Java in that manner).

    ...my first job was as a sys-admin for a small office, the boss had me install VNC to all company machines, mainly laptops for the sales folk, office manager etc. He would actually monitor them himself from time to time (while his office was 4m away).

    I protested but my warnings went unheeded, of course for some weird reason VNC "didn't work" on my machine. ;)
    It goes without saying that I got the hell out of there first chance I got and everyone else slowly followed.

    Ok I'm not usually the guy who starts spewing out conspiracy theories and the like but...does anyone else feel like "the man" (pardon the expression) is grooming the next generation to be mindless, imbecilic, non-critical drones?
    It's like they keep trying to mentally disarm the kids to ensure future complacency and then they have the audacity to frame it as protection.

    I know, I know, don't attribute to malice what can easily be explained by stupidity but this one would require a hell of a lot of stupidity.

    ...and say that I do the exact opposite.
    I've no set hours, no routine, no dedicated space, I play guitar when I'm blocked and have a movie or TV series playing all the time to provide a distraction (for some reason not multitasking doesn't work for me).

    So what I'm trying to say is that this is completely subjective, just do what feels natural.

    The most important thing is to be passionate about the projects you pick up, if you are then never mind staying focused, you'll go into overtime without even realising it.

    The first one more often than not is a symptom of something else and the second one can cause long term problems if not treated properly. Of course you should get professional advice for both. I'm of course not talking about a simple cough here but if you start spewing brownish stuff then it's time to visit a doctor.

    How does Zynga even know this 16 year old exists? Is his resume on linked in or something? Seems like the parents are pushing this kid kinda hard to begin with... Why would you even try and send a 16 year old into a program designed for college students? Take a deep breath. Slow down. Relax.

    Why should he?
    I was that kid a few years ago and writing code was (and still is) genuine fun to me.
    Admittedly, nowadays I'm not fond of working at mega-corps but if I could get a Google intern-ship at 16 that'd probably be the most fun and interesting period of my life.

    (That may sound pathetic to some but pleasure is subjective...)

    For my money, if someone willingly enters into a fight he has accepted all risks.
    And if I happen to be involved in an altercation and someone comes running and pepper-sprays me then hurting him becomes justified self-defence.

    Which is why I avoid violence in general...

    ...exists in pretty much all phones (amongst other devices) although most would require some soldering on the PCBs, they are also used for forensic investigations -- or have completely separate circuits used just for forensics.
    I don't remember much to be honest (like protocols etc) but I remember it from a forensics class I took.

    The only surprising thing here is that they allow access to that circuitry via the normal device ports.

    ...they used my scanner. It would be so fitting. Sony BMG Greece hacked by a vulnerability found by a scanner written by a Greek dude.
    That would be completely worth the development effort.
