I am supposed if they are still doing anything that will require a new OS anyways?
I am not an Apple hater. But using Apple for a server is just a bad fit. With servers you need to know what technology will be ahead of you and be able to have a well planned upgrade path. Companies like Apple and Google while can make an excellent product, do not have the stomach for long the support of 20-30 years on a product line. This isn’t saying they expected to support 30 year old components but keep the technology in a way for gradual upgrades over 30 years. And make sure the software can keep the business processes the same.
This methodology isn’t in the West cost silicone valley DNA. It is more of an East Cost IBM like methodology of less wiz-bang and more continual improvements.
Exactly there are more then one problem here. 1. Problem of people swatting others. 2. The police jumping to a swat for these calls 3. The action of the swat police who shot an unarmed man. 4. The person who chose to swat them 5. Taking games so seriously that such retribution is considered. 6. The faults in the 911 to allow for anonymous false calls.
There are a lot of problems going on here. However arresting the guy charged for one of them is a step. However the biggest fear is after they get the guy and charge the. Is case closed with all the other problems still in effect
So junk food restaurant chains are not allowed to voice their opinion? Especially in areas where such policies may affect their business. Chick-fil-A is mostly located in the Bible Belt, so being overly liberal could effect its business. Papa Johns needs an army of low paid workers, having them pay for health insurance will hit their business model. Burger King I expect needs net neutrality, as it is trying to get back into the game, the once #2 burger chain, is loosing a lot of ground. For it to try to get press again, they need to advertise on the cheaper routs of the internet. Having there voice being blocked means they will not be able to run their business.
There are some factors I could expect to go on here. Hotmail popular from late 1990's to the early 2000's. As a free Web Service to check emails. So... Statically we can get the following generalization of the person.
These are GENERALIZATIONS they are expectation.
1. Their age: The Hotmail user is probably over 40 years of age. Being the service is over 20 years old, and most people getting into it, do so in around their 20's or Later, possibly in their late teens. (Only an unpopular geek (at the time) would do so at a younger age)
2. Lack of computer skills: People used hotmail for general two reasons. 1. As a throw away email address to not get spammed (They wouldn't provide to something as important as Insurance they are paying for) 2. Because they couldn't figure out how to setup an email client correctly (The popular option at the time)
3. Stuck in their ways: If you are still using Hotmail as your email address, then you are probably stuck in your ways and avoid change at all cost. This could mean your bad habits will stick as well.
I am sure they did some calculations and find higher claims correlation with Hotmail users vs non.
One of the aspects of a free society, is the general concept of innocent until proven guilty. We encrypt in order to protect our information from bad actors. A government is managed by people not all of them trustful, so the government shouldn't get my data, unless absolutely needed say via a warrant. Because I am innocent until proven of a crime, so my encrypted communication shouldn't be considered anything nefarious until I am expected to be up to something concrete.
I expect for 99.99% of all encrypted data it is just information that isn't proof of wrong doing. But lets say this post from Jellomizer connects me to my boss who may disagree with such a position could get me fired, because my Point of view while perfectly legal may not be in sync with the company policy.
HL7v2 Is widely used for system to system transmission, it is simply stated a Pipe (The standard has this as actually customizable) delimited file where the first 3 characters on each line define the columns for that section. So if the first 3 characters have PV1 it will contain Provider information, PID will have the Patient Identifiers... HL7v3 is XML Based version... This isn't widely used, while out for about a decade, the HL7 Protocol is firmly entrenched into most medical systems ecosystems.
the CCD/CCA is an XML based format designed for sharing medical information across organization and to individuals, this contains information about the visit(s) what Meds they are on and Allergies, test results.... With a use of Style sheets XSLT it can be very human readable, however it can be imported into other systems as well.
The real issue is the lack of following such standards, Health care vendors will not work together to make sure they are following the standards properly, and will often fill in wrong data into parts they may not need. Say they may use the PID Tribal affiliation column to store the patients Twitter account or email.
What Apple is doing isn't hard at all. They just need to get a CCD sent to them and they will display it. The hard part is having the Health Care organization to send them the CCD as there will need to be a mountain of security measures to take place. And most of the IT Staff is working their buts off to remap most of the vendors non-standards.
However for a lot of the most common programming you will be always writing the same code over and over again. To deal with these internals. Making sure you don't miss pointers, having to measure every value... All for the normal CRUD Application we need to produce over and over again.
Because of these higher level languages the stability of our code has noticeably increased. Think back to using a computer back in the 1990's. Even if you had a solid OS such as a Unix, Linux, even NT which wouldn't cause the full system to go down, chances are what ever program you are running will often fail after time. Hence we have policies (often still in place) for scheduled reboots.
We had and will always have bad programmers, and we will also have good ones. However we should be able reduce the damage of the bad programmers so their applications still work. We can use the good ones to write code where efficiency really does matter.
I believe Religious leaders, in term of their view on religion. So if I have an issue in terms of faith, or making a moral choice, then a Religious Leader who has dedicated their lives to the religion. However their view on science, isn't that well respected, because of the lack of time they had individually studied it. There is also a lot of Bad Science reporting, Calling a new Hypothesis a Theory, Jumping the gun to a conclusion, people jumping on the band wagon of a popular idea without looking at the data. However Science works itself out over time. However if you want to disprove a scientific principal all you need to do is offer a new Hypothesis, Figure out what measurements would you'd see if you are right, take such measurements, compare them to your guess. If they are right, bring them to someone else to double check and verify.
In my opinion if your Religion key points are about explaining the natural world, then it is sadly a very poor religion to follow.
That is simple answer. For the majority of the computing user base. You can slow down the processor speed and people will not notice it much, however if you lower the battery life they will.
For the most part you can slow down a computer device by a large percentage and under normal use most people will not notice. 1ms vs 3ms for a task is still nearly instant to them. The fact that other factors such as bandwidth of a network connection, comes into play as well. However if you are use to your battery lasting 24 hours and it is down to 8 you really can tell even under modest use.
Apples biggest mistake wasn't the feature, but not telling about it, and letting us know to replace a battery.
However where is the link from insulting a company, vs bringing up constructive criticism? They are often things that need to be fixed, however if they will not listen to complainers, who really want them to succeed, however they need to fix something. Will for the most part drag them to their own doom.
Ideally, artistic patronage doesn't come with too many strings attached. I would see the line being drawn if You Tube not funding songs that are insulting to You-Tube. However other things not based on the music should be OK. Is what Google doing illegal? No, but it isn't the right thing to do either. Normally site that can take the insults and make their problems public, in general get more trust.
Most of the complains from content makers on You Tube, is how they deal with Copyright infringement. Because most videos will get the bulk of their ad revenue from the first 24 hours after being released. However it is easy for a Copyright holder to demonetize it, while it is being debated... This means during this time of peak revenue the content creator isn't making any money.
I find this complaint the biggest with people who are doing Movie Reviews. Because if it is a Bad Review the Copyright holder will lock them down to punish them for not liking their movie. However nearly all music is derivative especially popular music, because the core issue of music enjoyment is familiarity. This means copyright holders may have some straws to grasp to for a copyright infringement, and causing the new content makers to loose out on compensation for their work.
The neat thing about computers is a not-practical exploit can be programmed, so the hacker isn't wasting there efforts in all the rigamarole. It really isn't up to the general public to be able to successfully classify how bad a flaw is. Sure Intel would also like to point blame at AMD and ARM too. But Intel is in a loose loose situation here. They had big problem which they had patched, then there is an other one, which they need to show that they are responsive, however it is a complex problem that needs a more careful fix.
For most of us, even the highly educated, We have a High School or Middle School understanding of most topics. When we furthered our education, it for the most part had became specialized in particular areas, But for those who didn't specialize in that area, we have a limited understanding, in the topic. (Thank you for the link for additional information) Pangaea, was the latest Super Continent which we are shown during or basic education, as it is relatively recent enough that we could plainly see how the Continents fit together. "Nuna" had continental plates that do not look like what we know of, hence hard to teach to kids. And once we get older unless we study geology such topics isn't so relevant to other topics we choose to study.
This brings up the disturbing trends of people not believing the experts in fields, and some of them are in leadership positions who's actions causes change. Now a leader may not follow the advice of the expert, because their may be factors beyond that particular field, that need to be weighed in, however these experts should be listened to as you gut instinct and general knowledge in most things are actually at a basic level.
If you are using an App you may not have such visability even if you are doing a website, other then us tech guys who will dig down into the HTML and see the Pictures are not encrypted?
This argument is like that Microsoft did in the late 1990's to push Active X over Java. While the JavaApplet avoid writing and reading directly to your disk, limiting its functionality. This wasn't the factor in Active X. However the app would pop up an alert stating that this could be dangerous, figuring that the average person would be smart enough to avoid running the active X control from an outside site that isn't trustworthy. That wasn't the case. And in the early 2000's Microsoft got hit with a battery of hacks and spyware because of this. The average person if trying to get something (A Video, play a game, see content) will click the link and accept the warnings to see such information. The real responsibility lies into the vendor releasing the products. Because people will be stupid, even the best of us, may have lapse in best security practices from time to time. That one Email that really looked legit where you clicked the link, a mistype in an URL bringing you to a phishing site...
Twitter isn't that popular. Especially for emergency information. In an emergency, I would check these sources in this order. Alarm System, Phone Alert, Radio, Television, Direct Call, Official news web sites. Social media would be the last place to look for factual information.
He should had corrected the Alarm system and Phone Alerts first, then made a general call to media outlets in the area, then update social media.
Being that is a popular app, there will be a lot of people using it. There is a lot of taboos in our culture around dating and sexuality in general. Realizing the perfectly normal seeming person has some sort of fetish, can often be used against them by making it public, making people feeling uncomfortable, or being a reason to separate them from a particular job, group. Or causing divorces and other things, from a moment of curiosity or bad judgement.
These types of services really should take privacy seriously. As breaches can ruin peoples lives.
But their main selling point is the features that are in it work extremely well. Vs full of crap features.
I am supposed if they are still doing anything that will require a new OS anyways?

The problem is, we as humans with Natural Intelligence have such a week grasp of ethics, how do we expect to program it into a computer?
Ethics isn't easy, it isn't clean, and it is very subjective.

They are called Trolls for a reason too.
It is called the up-sale.
If you go to the Car Dealership with a 12 year old junker, They will try to sell you a new car vs. Trying to service the old one.
However sometimes the up-sale would be a better value, so you may want to consider it. You can always say "no" and get the battery fix.
Like the dealership you are going to the Apple Store, not the Apple Repair shop.

On Windows 7
Firefox v58 Gets an HTML5 Test score of 486 out of 555
Chrome v63 Gets an HTML5 Test score of 528 out of 555
I am in general still perplex why after all these years browsers are not 100% HTML 5 complaint.
