    If you are a woman you can do whatever you want.
    If you are a man then you do what the woman wants.
    These above rules apply for Heterosexual marriages.
    Same sex marriages it gets more complicated and you probably will need to compromise (gasp!!).

    However in no point in your article does it say what your soon to be better half wants. If you are a woman who is marrying a mad, that is fine, if not you have made a serious mistake on Slashdot (Unless you and your partner really want this (beware of sarcasm from your partner, or just trying to get you to shut up)).

    However the US Bond Rate is under the Magical 3% interest. That really means people are buying US Dept at a loss to them. So right now our Debt is profitable, granted if we need to invest the money in areas that will help grow the economy. So spending money create infrastructures for a long term space initiative isn't that bad of a thing. We are hiring skilled and educated work force, having them live in an area where support businesses can pop up or re-popup to support them.

    However memory usage is one of those moot points.
    Often (Not all the time) you come to a trade off of performance vs memory usage.
    Sometimes it is better to store a bunch of data in memory just for quick reference then having to calculate it over and over again or worse need to get it from slower storage such as a disk.
    Now there are things you can do to optimize the memory usage so it isn't as wasteful. However if you goal on low memory foot print chances are you are going to be sacrificing performance to use less memory.

    Senator: Hows business?
    Business man: It has been better, I think we need to lay off 100 people, we cannot keep ahead of the competition from other States/Country and the key cost is that law that needs us to clean up our water pollution count, we need to change our whole business, and we need to cut people.
    Senator: 100 Lay offs during (Thinking that it is an election year), that doesn't sound good, Ill see what I can do.

    Then the senator debates to put particular extensions to keep exclude the business from the rules.

    Later during the election you will see a Million dollar donation to a Super Pac.

    Very rarely people are trying to do evil, they are more often just negligent in doing their work, or too focused on short term issues that they ignore all the long term consequences.

    A good lawyer will not be your friend but your advocate. He should know enough to see the evidence and tell his client, you are not going to win this, but lets make sure you don't get life in prison for this. If you serve yourself you don't get this objectivity. Of course you think you are in the right, if you thought your actions were wrong you probably wouldn't have done what you are being sued for. A separate lawyer is working on your behalf, if what you did was right he will try to push for it... However if what you did wasn't he will try to lessen your sentence. While you would just keep on digging yourself deeper and deeper, or if you have a different personality give up too quickly and take the full sentence.

    After he makes a few millions how much are you willing to bet that he will be suing all the YouTube videos of his clips, and other internet downloads.

    Assange is one of capitalism great successes. Make your brand as being anti-western and capitalist, target your customer brand to a group of people who feel they don't have a voice, offer a service of giving them a voice and collect the cash.

    The next thing you will see him on TV selling Coca Cola. Even Liberal Rebels needs a cool refreshing Coca Cola.

    Proof that they will enforce their patients.

    We are talking about a company that nearly went out of business because they didn't properly patent their UI (And Apple did a lot of improvements over the Xerox design) causing other companies to copy their key advantage in their market. If Apple had patented windows that overlap and enforced it Apples and Microsoft history would be very different.

    Sometimes it isn't as much as winning or loosing, but more to the point if you are going to copy Apples design, you are going to fight for it.

    You sound like you do not work a an organization of any particular size... There is a big difference Updating your Work PC with your Home PC... Your home PC the person will play with it, for work they need to get to work right away. People are afraid to mess up their work PC they will follow policy and procedure, a New OS means there is a new policy and procedure. Less then 1 day of training with a little bit of practice for the rest of the day seems fare.
    Moving from XP to 7 will require training too... However it is less because those Apps that you know and love will still be there.

    I am sorry fanatical zealotry towards an Operating system will not make it run light speeds faster. Linux can run faster on low end systems when you strip features away, that is its strength you can customize it in great detail. However, if you are going to have a platform where you have people with faster computers you are going to want to have a common configuration, to make maintenance easier... This isn't a home PC this is a work PC, the IT Staff will need to maintain 40k worth of PC and numerous configurations will be a nightmare. I am surprised for someone with such a low user ID to have no Idea what it takes to manage an enterprise environment.

    I hope you don't do anything that requires logic or rational thinking... Does that include laptops mixed in too oh yes you got cheap desktops but you need Laptops too just because you need people who work out of the office... Also there is a degree of PC's you need to have on hot standby... Oh and the time it takes to install each system... 800 Euro per PC is a low estimate of the true costs.

    My suggestion isn't to upgrade anything at all, to keep things the way they are. Most people will not push for a hardware upgrade if their software is the way it is.
    It is cheaper to stay on your current working platform then to migrate... Migration is expensive and it will take a long time to recover the costs. In a poor economic situation. Cost centers such as IT needs to be stretched a little further. What advantage are you really getting going to Linux over Windows for the next 5 years... Not much...

    But is is really that much cheaper?
    Ok for licence costs say 250euro per windows license. we save 10 Million euro, sound good.
    Now these 40,000 people will need at least 8 hours of training say they average 15 eruo an hour. There is a 4.8 Million dollar expense (5.2 million euro left, well we are still saving money a lot of money).
    10% of these peoples PC will need to be upgraded, Yes yes Linux can run better on older hardware however if they are going to upgrade their OS they might as well upgrade their oldest PC's (and if they didn't upgrade they may have gotten an other year or two out of them), just so they can keep the configuration constant across systems and use some of the newer features. 800 euro for a new PC seems fare. That will be a 3.2 Million Euro expense (2 Million Euro saved)
    Now lets say every department has 500 employees and every department has one custom legacy app making 80 legacy systems that needs to be upgraded lets say 25,000 euros is the cost of rebuilding the applications 2 Million Euros expense (0 Euro saved)

    When you are in a depressed economic times is is sometimes it is better to stick with what you got and don't upgrade and maximize the use of your purchase. Now in the long run Linux may be cheaper (I like Linux I really do) However right now it will be a large project with a lot of risks that could back fire and be much more expensive then planned for only a chance for a small savings.

    Umm well Duh.

    As well this Gym Analogy isn't apt. Because it is more like a case you can have an unlimited Gym Membership for a month for $30 or you can choose to pay by the hour (Say $1.00 an hour) while you are there.
    So if you are the guy who goes to the gym for 2 hours a day every day the Unlimited $30 a month is a better value. Because the other plan will have you paying around $60.00 a month.
    If you are the average Joe who goes to the gym say 3 times a week for 1 hour. The hourly plan is cheaper because he will be paying $15.00 a month.

    For most of the people the hourly rate will be a better value because if they do go to the gym every day it will normally be for 1 hour and they will normally have reasons to miss a day. However for the the guy who is addicted to exercise or is really trying to get buffed, that pay per usage will be more expensive.

    Now the same will AT&T Plan. For most people we are getting a better rate, then before, however we don't like being metered, even if it is cheaper. We much rather pay more and have a consistent bill then a fluctuation bill even if the average is cheaper.

    Now morally I might be in the right, (depending on your moral code, however this seems like something people wouldn't be loosing much sleep over) However Legally it is wrong.
    Because Bob Guilt or Innocents hasn't been proven in a court of law and abuse of doing the moral thing could be a greater detriment to society as a whole, as well what is the value of the hedge trimmers that Bob has stolen. There is the store value, however those hedge trimmers could have some personal meaning to me, as well the value I place in taking something from Bob may have a different personal value from him.

    Morality is really a personal issue. Legality is more fixed in stone.

    Well they did (Black Berry Thunder) respond but they figured that the iPhone would be a Toy Phone and Black Berries would be for Business. Their mistake wasn't as much in their phones but their software, they needed a full web browser very soon after the iPhone 1. Right when the iPhone came out they needed to push big on third party developers to make custom apps for the black berry. But they waited for Apple to get 3rd party developers to make apps first then all was lost.

    People forgot that the original iPhone had a luke warm reaction. A lot of buzz but a lot of people really couldn't justify getting one. Sure it was cool but limited without apps. Blackberry could have seen the what people wanted from an iPhone and put a lot of effort behind giving the black berry those features. G3 Internet, Well made custom apps, a strong web browser, they could have made it while keeping the keyboard, and the trackball.

    What happened is there are two type of competition.
    Competing with competitors who are trying to be like you.
    Competing with competitors who are trying to bring the next step.
    Previously for BlackBerry most of the smart phones out there were little black berry clones that may have one or two key features that were improvements. Which makes it easy for RIM to add in their next version, in the mean time you can wait and just use your brand name, and see if that new features is liked or not.

    Apple didn't try to make a better Black Berry they wanted to make a new type of phone. RIM tried their old process but it failed because the product was too different. They had to really innovate their product to keep it relevant, and they couldn't make an iPhone clone.

    I don't see why they didn't bother redoing episodes I,II, III. by redoing everything... I think Fan Fiction of what happened would be a better story then the Cannon version. Even if it does mean that Skywalker will befriend some quite backroom guy who wants to be a writer to join him on his amazing adventures, heck that is still better then Jar-Jar.

    For the most part people sit and complain about the ruling they don't like, for the ruling they do like they mostly shrug and say, well yes of course.
    The Supreme Court is generally disliked by both parties, The conservatives think the Court it too liberal, the Liberals think the court is too conservative. However it is mostly because the way the Court is structured it is outside the normal showboating politics, where a Judge who tends to lean one way will not get his job threatened for "Flip Flopping" or what is more generally called changing ones opinion based on facts.

    The biggest problem people usually have is in their minds Legality = Morality while they are rather disjointed. Often they work hand and hand but not all ways. Because it is legal for you to do something it doesn't make it morally rite. Also if it is moral or immoral to do something it shouldn't be legal/illegal, based on moral alone.

    It is probably why they are doing the harsh treatment. Is it smart no, however what it does is make the little men at the TSA who feel threatened by such people make them feel big and empowered. Granted this will only strengthen their case however for the short term it will make these people feel good.

    It reminds me back in High School talking to someone from an other high school, who was angry because some reporter made a joke that it must be the pollution in the cities water that made these kids more aggressive and better at foot ball. This news made him so mad that he wanted to find that reporter and beat him up...

    The moral of the story is that people often act on their gut feelings and don't do things logically.

    Globalization for the past couple thousand years have seems to be a factor in changing cultures for quite a while.
    And there are always people who get pissed off by this natural effect.

    You get those crazy Romans who take over a culture, if they didn't kill every man, woman and child, usually caused a portion of their culture to rub off to the entire roman empire, although the conquered people usually get the biggest culture shift. However if the mighty Roman Empire could be switched to Christianity, which has been a small sect in an outskirt territory. Putting all debates about religion aside it shows how globalization effects all cultures involved.

    So now in the 21st century We have near instant globalization of ideas and products. So cultures are changing. They are not going away but they are changing and are being effected by outside sources. Americans know about the music and shows available in Japan, or in India, we can talk to people from these areas and make friends of them. Also vice-verse a lot of countries that are newer to globalization feel more threaten then others, because their culture has been isolated for so long that their culture has been the same for a long time, however forces are causing it to change. Ideas on morality, politics, and stereotypes are becoming more diverse and the culture is changing to either accept these new ideas or reject them... But these new ideas are out there to be thought about, and they are changing culture more rapidly then what everyone was used to.

    Many Americans are threatened by the ideas from Asia and the Middle East, as well these groups are threatened by Western ideas. They put to call our ideas of morality and what is right and wrong.

    You can get apartments.
    You don't need to live in a house. That was one of the key problems with our current bust, A lot of people who couldn't afford houses got them. Then they couldn't pay for them.
    There are solutions available. The problem is these solutions are below them. Oddly enough now in America it is more prideful to be out of work and blame someone else for your misfortunes. Then taking your current misfortune and strive and work to get past it. Sometimes getting past this means you will need a different quality of life that you had before.
    Sure bad stuff happens and it isn't always your fault... However blaming people but doing noting will overall ruin you life more. Wouldn't it make more sense to take a step back and build a new life then trying to regain a life that may not come back.

    Back in the 1990's Web Developers who only skill was using Front Page were making big bucks putting together crappy website, made a good living. Then around 2003 they demand dropped. Now to make it you either needed to do more then websites or what a lot of people did was get a different career (Unfortunatly a lot of those slobs went to real-estate)

    The only reason why I see medical and education with low unemployment is that the colleges have a strong working relationships with these organizations and a professor recommendation will get you far. Other majors colleges do little or less to keep professional ties with people who hire from these majors.
    Engineering and tech is higher mostly because there is demmand for anyone with some real math training. Most of the highest unemployed majors treat math like one of those silly thing you never needed anyway, and is there to turture children.
