The whole WIMPy (Windows, Icons, Mouse, Pulldown or something similar) user interface was present in the Graphics Environment Monitor, which was a spin-off from de Smalltalk 77 environment, researched and developed (AFAIK) at Xerox-PARC (Palo Alto Research Center) and available as a separate product for several operating sytems.
Why the Palestinians - are they rich and coordinated enough to orchestrate such an action?

Why your (and the TV's) thought that it might be them? That's out of guilt. So: Yes it is time that the world should treat the Palestinians better. But look elsewhere for the develish organisation who pulled the strings to make this massacre take place.
They won't all of the time. Surely. How long have cars been around? Still there are scenes where the driver looks at everything except the road, turning the wheel like a mad man. On many occasions it is just to expensive to make it look real.
Does L.A. Law portray law-practice? Is St. Elsewhere's medical staff realistic? Maybe not, but it's very real compared to what we see about the programming community.
We will have to wait for something like "Dilbert - the movie" to happen to get a more realistic view of programmers on the screen.
