Screen size and sound - My screen isn't enormous, but it's not too different from being in the back row of a theater.
The best thing about it being my own setup is that I know it's calibrated properly: I have been to many more than my share of movies filled with overly boomy, unbalanced sound and poorly focused projectors. At home I know it's right, and I don't know about you, but my modest 100W subwoofer is more than up to the challenge of shaking my theater room--and the effect is much better when the whole system is in balance.
Evidently you haven't had this experience, but there are many times where having a weak, cheap camera is much better than none at all.
I used to be on your side (all I want is for my phone to MAKE CALLS, dammit!), but after my gf got a camera phone, she was able to take a picture of a fantastic wine rack that we saw while out at a restaurant together (a version of which I subsequently built for my house), I became a cameraphone convert.
And no, neither of us had a pen, and the napkins were cloth, so making a sketch wasn't an option.
And the point of your post is what again? Is it bad in itself that we make so much money as a society that a billion is easily lost?
Why is this particularly worth thinking about? I think it's actually one of our greater assets as a people that we can take our prosperity for granted and not feel the need for self-flagellation because of it.
I have the remnants of one of those first-gen AirPorts whose capacitors died after almost precisely 12 months. My serial number was a few thousand-ish out of the "blessed" range, and so Apple told me to pound sand.
Tried to replace the caps myself, and learned how bad a solderer I am. Dead unit. Thanks, Apple.
Trees are a cash crop; paper makers grow their own forests from which paper is made. The papermaking trade does not contribute to deforestation in any way.
The U.S. has more forest now than when the Pilgrims landed.
What he's talking about is the necessity to spend ANY money or trouble to facilitate something as simple as the exchange of files when the lowly floppy has been doing the job swimmingly for a number of years.
Yes, $400 is great for wireless LAN connectivity. Yes, it's also overkill for the 800KB background or 1MB screensaver or 40KB term paper or 5K HTML page you wanna take over to... what?
-- You are absolutely correct. Almost every case of CT that I've heard of has been from people who learned how to type "correctly." I was fortunate enough to have taught myself. --
I have to second this. I taught myself to type at 8 years old (29 years old now) programming TRS-80 BASIC way back when, and though I only use three fingers and a thumb on each hand I can get 55+ WPM with fast metal playing:-). Never a moment of pain or numbness, except when mousing too much or too irresponsibly.
OTOH, any candidate who could actually boost the proportion of netizens who actually *vote* would do very well: the percentage of Americans who actually deign to vote at all is so low that *any* sizeable population segment can grab disproportionate influence just by stimulating people to vote who wouldn't have otherwise.

Bzzt. Wrong. The fibers comprise the whole of the 2% under discussion.
The whole does comprise the parts, but the whole is in turn composed of the parts. I've never heard the usage that parts compose a whole.
It's is comprised of that is the (more) incorrect usage.
