I don't know about Blender being helped by big companies, but Pixar has used Blender in the past and not kept quiet about it. (in a good way)

Actually I wanted to suggest a similar thing. There are other people who have done similar things with cheap hardware. It's a very good idea. Though this will not give as much amplification as a 12ft dish, it may be useful: http://www.usbwifi.orcon.net.nz/

Sealand, ha ha. The whole thing would fall apart if you used a tiny firework on it. Not really, but the image that conjure amuses me.

There was a video and an article some time ago about 3 PS3s in parallel being used to render a scene by raytracing it. It was pretty nice, they could rotate around the scene and all, it was uhh, realtime I think the word is.

So the BSD is not distinct from the GPL then, except for the express requirement to 'show the code'? Oh good, then they can just change the GPL licence on that code back to BSD and OpenBSD can have all of Linux's drivers and people can stop complaining about which licence is more permissive. After all, both licences are share-alike according to that article. So Stallman won after all.

  8. Re:Sure, but on Theo de Raadt On Relicensing BSD Code · · Score: 1

Actually, under the terms of the BSD licence he can place a GPL on the whole thing as long as he does not remove the BSD licence from the code. That's what it seems like. IANAL.

I'm curious, how will his life be ruined if he's wrong? He'll get a whole couple of pages of code in hard copy form. Sure, that's wasting paper and trees are cut down to make paper and stuff like that, but it's not like his life is ruined, come on.

I suppose he means that while the municipality does own and run the service, it charges for it and the charges go to keeping it maintained.

I've had quite a few programs run and a couple of games (the simple directx ones, and the Warcraft III ones) but a couple of others froze the X Server completely. Weird. By the way, Neverwinter Nights has a linux client, why ever did you try installing the windows version?
