Would someone tell me how this happened? We were the fucking vanguard of PCI slots in this country. The one slot motherboard was the motherboard to own. Then the other guy came out with a two-slot SLI board. Were we scared? Hell, no. Because we hit back with a little thing called the 3 slot PCI-e motherboard....
If you think the federal government has been expanding its power since 1933 you haven't been paying attention. This goes back all the way to the "limited versus strict" interpretations of the Constitution. We're talking about Jefferson's Era here.
There is no doubt that federal power is increasing, and the rate of increase seems to be speeding up over the years. But Bush is the latest in a long line of Presidents who expanded Federal power. Jefferson, Roosevelt, Jackson, and even Lincoln have done so, and those are just the ones I can think of off the top of my head.
The scary thing to think about is when will this end? It would take something in the order of a miracle (the election of Ron Paul would be one in itself) to change the present course. And even then, when a President is elected campaigning on small government, he may do just the opposite (I'm looking at you Regan).
I just don't see a way out of this, and that conclusion made by the parent is something I will agree with.
There's nothing wrong with this patent. This is a useful innovation and Kodak should be awarded for their R&D efforts.
It is when companies begin to patent software that the problems arise. You can't patent a recipe, how different is software code from a recipe? Both are list of instructions. That is where the patent system fails. When ebay has to defend their "Buy-It-Now" feature, which is nothing more than html and some server scripts, then we have a problem.
Actually, I've lost my entire bookmarks file a number of times in Firefox. Once was due to my own mistake, but a couple of times the bookmark file actually got corrupted.
I'm looking forward to a new more efficient bookmark system
Due to the wonderful process known as copyright, he will be giving us nothing. Given a few more copyright extensions, in 2107 we will be celebrating the 130 year anniversary of Star Wars and paying George's great-great-grandchildren for the pleasure.
Yes, but that doesn't mean Step 5 is not in their plans. It just means they're not doing step 4.5 very well.
Overheard at Gigabyte HQ...

I just skimmed TFA, but it seemed to me like he was advocating a guessing penalty.

Isn't copyright fun?
