    It should happen NEVER. Its frustrating as hell to be presenting to a client on my Surface and we have to wait for it to update. Its MY machine, it should update when I say, but because we allowed morons to operate computers for 2 decades, now everything is force fed to us and locked down.

    Dr Chandra and Heywood Floyd discuss it in the 'sequel' 2010, aboard the Discovery in the pod room. HAL was given contradictory orders from officials above Dr. Floyd, and HAL panicked, killing the crew. All of which was caused by HAL's inability to even conceptualize errors.

    "The National Security Council ordered HAL to conceal from Discovery's crew the fact that the mission was about the Monolith; this conflicted with HAL's basic programming of open, accurate processing of information, causing him to suffer the computer equivalent of a paranoid mental breakdown"

    All this shows is that Dr Chandra was a hack. HAL was arrogant, blind and shows a stunning lack of wisdom in this statement. HAL is a great example of why we will always have people controlling things. I dont fear enslavement by AI, i fear enslavement by other men USING AI.

    The entire 2001 storyline regarding HAL could have been a short story by Asimov and would have been a better example of the dangers of absolutes. Dr Chandra was a hack who didnt understand humans (or power) at all.

    No, its not. AI is an EMERGENT behavior when you have built the correct environment. Siri is canned responses and little more.

    Because outside of office work and servers, Linux is SHIT. Linux actually makes my hardware LESS valuable because i lose so much performance. I love Linux, been on the train since the 90s. When SteamOS came out i built 3 different machines (good, better, best based on Valve's specs). Best and Better are now Win 10 machines and Good is in a closet somewhere. Im wearing a damn TF2/Linux Tshirt right now, but for entertainment on x86, its garbage.

    AM i the only one that sees QR codes as a massive potential security issue? I never run them on my pocket computer. I dont know why i would want to.

    The Intel/AMD cross licensing agreement, in place since the SEVENTIES says 'lol'. Further, when it comes to R&D and patents, AMD is a cruel joke in comparison. AMD and Intel are NOT peers, they are not equals, they are not partners. Intel is a Titan of monstrous proportions, AMD is a Demi-God at best. People get this idea in their head that AMD is an equal competitor to Intel, they arent, not even close.

    But Kolrami didnt stipulate that at the time of the challenge. He expected to beat Data outright, thus causing him to enter a possibly unwinnable game. As another fictional computer once said 'The only winning move is not to play'.

    After playing on my Vive for the past 3 weeks, 'flat-games' are kind of tame. There is a LOT of fun to be had in VR right now. Cockpit games alone are worth it, not to mention Room Scale is awesome. There wont be a v2 for at least 2 years.

    I picked one up when they came out and there is simply no reason for me to upgrade to anything else for the foreseeable future. IT works. Its only true weakness is the camera.

    http://ark.intel.com/products/... The only virt this doesnt support is VT-d. I have spent the last few years exploring Intel's bottom line of processors, from NUCs to tablets, they are solid. Times have changed. Like i said above, i built a machine out of AMD's newest low power platform (AM1), i wasnt impressed relative to intel.
