I understood ALL of that. What you dont understand is that GeoHot was about to remove all those limits until Sony gave him a big check and told him to shut up or they will ruin him. I bought my Linux capable PS3 KNOWING that at some point we would get 'gpu' access. And we almost did, right up until Sony used the DMCA as a sledgehammer.

You realize that AMD and Intel have a cross-licensing agreement, so its completely moot who came up with it. If your point was to show AMD somehow is a superior CPU manufacturer, well thats just not supported by the facts. There was a time when AMD came close to parity with Intel, but that was more Intel mis-stepping than AMD's prowess.

Yes. This is the future we feared when Steam raised its head. A hundred different logins and services running on your machine that demand to be updated or refuse to work. We are squarely back in the mainframe era again. For the record, i like Steam a lot, but i saw where it would lead. Now i have Steam, Origin, Gog.com, Blizzard, Ubisoft, and Epic game launchers on my machine, plus the graphics drivers will soon require a login. Windows 10 all but requires a MS account so another service login there. Yes the computing world has gone quite mad.
