My PC as deployed as a HTPC/Steam Machine is exceptional even using Win 10 as the OS. (i use it because the machine holds no sensitive data). I dont expect it to do my taxes or serve files. I dont have to worry about casual infection because i generally dont surf the web on it. If i do its on VERY trusted sites. It is for all practical purposes a 'console' that boots into Steam Big Picture Mode. The main difference being i can drop back to the desktop if i need to do some work under the hood. Its spends 99% of its time in a 10 foot UI. If you sat down and booted it up to play a game, you would hardly notice a functional difference between it and a Xbox or PS4 (except the fact that the library is a LOT larger). Ill admit it cost more, but that comes with territory and have no problem paying more for enhanced performance and admin access.
P.S. Consoles do not predate PC games....SpaceWar! was running on mainframes in 1961.... the first console (Pong) didnt appear until the 1966. I suppose you could argue that PC = microcomputer, not mainframe but i think in this context you are just being disingenuous.
Buy an Intel NUC if you want that. The latest 14nm NUCs are $140 on amazon right now. I have one setup using just bare OpenElec running 2 GB of Ram for $160 total. To get an RPi to that point i would need the PI, a NICE case, a power supply, SD card, IR receiver, Bluetooth and Wifi modules. Best case scenario for the PI is $30+15+7+10+8+10+10=$90 for a vastly inferior machine. Dont get me wrong i LOVE the PI 2 i have. I have 3 of them with the official Pi touchscreens, i jsut understand its limitations. They are for making terminals, not servers (for the record i ran a static website with a year uptime on an Pi no problem), For $70 more a NUC makes a VASTLY better choice.
Too long. No one should expect to be paid for a lifetime for work that is already done. Thats a shitty deal for The People. Never forget copyright is a SOCIAL BARGAIN, there is a heavy price for that legal copyright protection, and that price is we own your work after a LIMITED time. A lifetime is not what i would call 'limited'
The problem is under this logic, Shakespeare would still be under copyright. Copyright is intended for a LIMITED time with its express purpose to advance the arts and sciences, NOT to enrich creators, thats a side effect.. I think the 14years +14 year extension laid out in the Constitution is more than fair, especially in an Information Age
Disney is not going to get another extension through Congress. Way too many eyes are on it now for them to pull off another Sonny Bono Act. It will have to be through a treaty or some other mutli-government agreement.
First and foremost systems like this are about control, with security being a side effect. The software folks want to be able to alter the deal any time theysee fit, logins enable that.
4 hour lag in billing is nothing, thats actually incredibly responsive. Frankly, if your wife has 200 MB of data to use, she should be sending text messages, emails and thats about it. NO browsing facebook, (use messenger) no web pages, jsut text. I have an android tablet that came with 200 mb of free tmobile data every month. I realized right away that it would only be good for emergency texting etc.
You will. Wal-Mart has to pop up a full retail store to have a presence in a town. All Amazon has to do is pop up a HIGHLY automated warehouse and hire the local sharing economy workers to deliver (Uber, Lyft workers etc). Im not getting Amazon deliveries in marked Amazon trucks, im getting regular people in normal cars.
I have been paying sales tax on Amazon for years and years. Further it wasnt Amazon dodging taxes our lawmakers SPECIFICALLY exempted internet commerce so that it could grow.
I can order from Amazon Prime Now and have my stuff waiting at my door when i get home. Same day, two hour delivery FOR THE COST OF PRIME ALONE! NO extra delivery charges. Wal-Mart is fucked.
EVERY mobile computer has sensitive data on it. IM not talking about your blog... It has locations, logs of keystrokes, visited web pages on and on. All that data is INCREDIBLY PRIVATE. You lack imagination.
"This being said, it would be logical to take this right away from digital offenders (child porn, people selling prostitutes, etc) in order to prevent continued offenses"
I agree i think Valve broke the interface when they switched to suggested content, but there really is no other way to expose all the product on the store. I dont love their solution, but i understand it.
So just fuck small businesses, right? You dont need AD for the vast majority of small business out there, which accounts for a MASSIVE chunk of the market.

"Standing on Market Street, I barely got 1 Mbps" If you cant work with a 1mbps pipe, i just dont know what to say...

Actually, my power IS tiered. The more i use, the more expensive it gets per unit, up to $.25 per KWH.
Data is not POWER OR WATER. Its a VERY different beast, you sound stupid using those comparisons.

FUCK YOU
Sincerely,

Thats what checksums are for....
It exposes the logical fallacy. It CAN be used as a viable tack, this is not one of those times.
Reductio ad Absurdum
Im unlikely to have my network invaded by a 3 letter agency, i still harden against it.
You are god damn right we are entitled, EVERY SINGLE ONE OF US is entitled to enjoy Liberty.
Guess what, we are allowed to own things that can easily be used as weapons, its called Liberty.

When i was a kid and I watched this show i said 'How can corporations run everything, wouldnt the government stop them?" I simply couldnt accept it.

And tomorrow Google could break your shit and you will have to start over.
