Here's the oft repeated story again, instead of trying to improve infrastructure and services (like backup lines for instance) the consumers are the ones left holding the bag. In fact they're already using the word 'rationing'. Why is it that almost always its the consumers who bear the burden of whatever boo boo's made by the service providers ? On the other hand though the statement is worded unsurprisingly inept, i guess the sentiment here might be to take stock of the usage and avoiding unnecessary bandwidth hogging for a while. Though what's unnecessary should be left to the consumers to define for themselves. A simple request for 'help' and 'understanding' would have been more useful without generating all the negative publicity that I'm sure this will generate. shucks..
If you've got to just document the processes and experiences then tough luck dude. But it can come across as a decent accountability practice by have the staff update wiki's or some sort of periodical reporting system. There's a fine line between reporting your work and actually marginalizing yourself:)
As almost the entire ministerial contigent from India goes to Switzerland, France and generally all places Europe to "Study" the laws and processes established there(preferably Summer Junkets and such), I know what to expect here when they eventually come round to it. Though people are doing good work here, trying to get those bums an inkling of the issues involved is like banging against a wall (in fact all the more better for it at least for 5 years or so:))
But this is very very ominous and does not bode well for rest of the countries. Seems all are falling like nine pins to draconian measures.
Nothing new actually. But to be fair those poor marketing guys get saddled with actually trying to sell the stuff and all they get from the Developers is pure gloss, (admittedly they ain't that well versed beyond a few buzzwords).
Case in point - all that brouhaha about XP3 SP3 increasing performance by about 10-12% being much much faster than Vista, and believe me no one there knows what the fuck they did to get that. The Vista development people would be shitting stones by now trying to replicate the same performance as XP when the poor sods there themselves are in the dark.
I'm sure pretty soon Microsoft will come out with an explanation which might explain oh, about a 0.1% percent perf. improvement but if you'd look closely what they say will actually be full of holes. This is just to avoid getting negatively mentioned by the likes of nytimes and wsj and their ilk. ( not to mention/. ! )
Pretty silly. How do the losses translate to $110 million ? So they're counting the entire bandwidth of the people clicking that button would naturally click all the ads ?
The article quotes Marissa as loosing revenue to tune of less than 1% ?? 0.001, 0.0001 ?? what ?
The possibility of terrorists using skype is there yes, but right now according to most police forces IMHO is increasingly through use and throw sim cards over plain vanilla cellular networks.
And without any encryption to boot, most conversations are phrases within local dialects which listed out would mean anything from a shopping list to a planned assasination. The point here is rather than spying on the content its the point of origin and the investigative techniques used by most third world countries today that'll help. And definitely not the backdoors left in most protocols used by skype et. all by all the three letter agencies.
The type of curbs being tried by the German Police would essentially be useful against big time money laundering and crimes similar in vein.
Apart from my workplace, the overwhelming majority of people i come in contact with around on streets, anywhere dont have a fucking clue as to what's DRM let alone the issue's involved.
Nobody ever bought copyrighted content, which they're starting to buy in droves just lately. Its kinda weird:O
He has a definite link to the Islamic fundamentalist groups operating in Iran who were responsible for various US embassy bombings. We need to defend our way of life and of our childrens with all the peoples of the world. Some of the accounts have information containing Weapons of Mass Destruction which Iran as been acquiring which will lead to a third world war.
The Swedish security service is our ally towards counter terrorism and we hope they will join the alliance for our War on Terror.
About the Mainstream media you're bang on, but Hacking per se isn't a crime.
Security consultant or something else, you can attach whatever euphemisms to it -
Well, its already been discussed here pretty much at length and as for taking credit and messing with the police..
i believe he's being plain stupid. Taking credit for a hack and reporting it does NOT mean publishing the entire list of access credentials online. Could have just reported and left to fend for themselves. Dramatic is it ? well he was the one looking for drama in the first place.

well how elite Microsoft is you all can guess.
Thing is this is'nt smthing that's happening in America or places like microsoft etc. I've seen employees of concerns like Oracle, Yahoo, Verizon getting escorted out ( getting all of couple of hours to clear their desks ) if and when they give their next company as a competitor. SAP is oracle's case etc. And what nobody bothers to read is that all this is in their signing contracts itself.
So all i can say is wise up. Its an industry wide practice. Nothing much you can do about it.

Considering a few years down the line ...
I think Google might have had a good point calling their platform 'Android'
Why'd you ever post this ?? ....
:(
I HAD to try it now
The server at www.egypt.gov.eg is taking too long to respond.
Sometimes I hate myself
