You must be in the music/movies or gaming industry, or at least share their mentality. I for one can't stand paying $50 a pop to play essentially the same game over and over again. But hey, different strokes for different folks I suppose.

Well they are a gimmick if they are tacked-onto in a meaningless way yes. But they could also open up whole new genres and expand some existing ones like RPGs or puzzle games. You are pre-judging something that we have seen very little of, I think in the future some of the possibilities of these "controllers" will be far clearer. I have no doubt though that motion, in some form will be the dominant console gaming input in the next gen, with "classic" controllers required for certain game types.

Perhaps this is OT, but I think it is likely the primary reason for this deal- What happened to iD's engine licensing? Before D3 it seemed 80% of games were iD based, the rest being Unreal. What happened to make iD's engines so unappealing today?

You make a great point about vegetarians. Just like most "movements" the zelolots take it over and instead of helping promote their cause they simply polarize the issue. Look at anti-smoking groups or MADD as other great examples. Sadly most of the "members" of these movements are actually quite levelheaded people. Most of my friends who don't eat meat still believe it can be part of a healthy diet. They simply choose not to eat it and believe that they can find suitable replacements. This is the same reason I, as an anti-smoker try not to fall for all the BS anti-smoking propaganda. The hardliners always make us all look like assholes.

While I respect what you are saying, and agree that some are miss equating the two. I also hope you can see it from the consumer side. Stuff like this makes us at odds with the industry, and as I think we can tell the customer always wins. To you that means people choosing to steal because they believe it is OK based on the treatment they received when they were (paying) customers. Right now the industry you are a part of is dying. When shit like this is being supported by the "industry" are you really surprised we stopped buying your stuff? If this is a reflection of ASCAP or its membership I am proud to say I have not given a cent (directly) to them in years.

Here at my house in St. Paul MN I went from having about 18 digital channels before the transition to 12 now. I thought when they dropped analogue most broadcasters were going to boost their power. Instead it seems the opposite has happened, here at least. I'm pretty unhappy that I can't seem to get a signal from towers that are less than 20 miles away. If this is how it will stay than must say I wish we had stayed analogue .

While I see your point. It is important to realize that most successful patent trolls today are able to secure their patents even with existing prior art. Apple would be unwise to rely on that since they themselves have been victims of many trolls who have patented things Apple did years ago like folders, or transferring data over a network.
